What my avatar says in this comic is accurate. I had an idea for a storyline in which I had characters who would sort of fit into it, but would have them doing out of character things while assuming roles they wouldn't normally be in.
Which is fine. There's no reason we can't have a storyline in which people step into different roles. We did that in Nanase Craft, for example, with no need for an intro like this.
The difference there, however, was that it was really obvious what was going on, and we didn't really need an explanation. This storyline, however, is not an obvious parody of anything, so that immediate clarity isn't there.
Basically, there was potentially a sort of "uncanny valley" situation. When the comic's parodying adventure archeologists, it's obvious and fine. When what's happening is less obvious, it's weird and confusing.
Solution? Make it obvious.

I read "pizza," see a donut, and think up pizza donuts.

If *you're* not allowed to make bad fanfic of your work, who would be? (Note: just because a work falls in the bad fanfic category doesn't mean it is bad itself. A lot of bad fanfic is like that, but there's an awful lot that would be great fiction if the just cut the knot and called themselves stand alone works that were merely loosely inspired by something else, rather than calling themselves fanfic. And I think that's the sort of thing you just promised, except it's not calling itself fanfic, so it's going to be awesome.) Why am I suddenly craving donuts?

Yeah, but sometimes Close Enough is Close Enough

It's like this thing in TV series where they do a flashback about entirely different characters, but the same actors! I remember seeing it once in *Lois and Clark* and once in *Roswell*.

Oh wow, male squirrel-Dan. That's a rare sight.

There's non-canon, then there's rabidly out of character. Not really the same thing, especially if the characters start yelling at you when you try to make them do what you want.

She'd need a complete Infinity Gauntlet to accomplish that though. ;)

I am waiting for the day when Kitty snaps and transforms half of Moperville. Although I'm not sure she needs to snap to do that.

I am always glad to see more Kitty. :)

If you're not playing around with your characters in explicitly non-canon situations, what's even the point of EGS:NP?

Kitty seems like fun
