Content Vaguely Flagged! (Gasp)
🕑 Added 2018-09-07 15:45:00 +0000 UTC Patreon has assigned my Patreon as “adult content”. I’ve had suggestive content, certainly, but no real nudity or characters doing particularly explicit things. The suggestiveness might genuinely be enough by their standards, but they haven’t specifically flagged anything.
I've sent in a help request about it, and asked for clarification. If something I’m doing actually DOES cross some line, then those posts can’t be public. They can be free to view, but need to be “Patron only”.
Ideally, however, I’d prefer no “adults only” warning on my Patreon. Some posts *might* have to go. Anything that would have to go would wind up on my Tumblr, if not there already, so it wouldn’t just be gone.
Still, what a revoltin’ development. But not suspended, so blessings counted.
If I’m stuck with this distinction... I don’t want to be, but at least I’d worry less about what is “adult” or not.
I’m not happy about this, but I’m sort of zen about it? Like “whatever happens, happens, and maybe I’ll worry less about showing butts in the worst case”.

I did that myself, actually. I manually changed a bunch of things to Patrons only to be on the safe side. It should actually only require a Patron account to see? I think? I remember having a Patrons only poll that anyone with a Patreon account could look at.

From the recent ones "Slow Day at Work" got flagged as Patron-only, meaning that you need at least 1$ pledged to see it

Unfortunately, some of the American classification systems would count "gender swap" and/ or "large breasts" as Adult Content - there's a reason why the likes of Dexter's Lab etc feature adult females with flat chests and huge hips.

Yes, sorry, I didn't want to mean it that way. I *do* see the warnings, but what I meant is that I didn't care for them. Having your patreon behind the "adult" fence is not a deterrent to me, but I understand how it can be a problem because it reduce visibility, still have some constraints from Patreon, and if a creator don't want his content to be flagged as such (honestly, everything done here so far seems fine even for patreon's unspoken rules) it's really bad. Ultimately, if the situation stay that way, it might not be a big issue but the lack of transparency makes it very hard to know what you can and cannot do. I've seen this hit actual adult-oriented patreon, but seeing it happen here is a bad signal from patreon.

You might not, but other people will. I had to click a warning to access this post. And the problem is that an "over 18 only" warning could drive some people away. This is the money that Dan lives on, and he could lose patrons because Patreon won't tell him what he needs to change to get the warning removed.

Eh. I'm a grown up, I don't see "adult warnings" anymore.

Worst case scenario more butts ^^ could be worse.

The least they could do is specify what the problem is...

The shading on your abs and pecs are just too good now. It's a curse.
AstroChaos
It was shirtless Noah. You drew his nipples. Guys in comics can go shirtless but nipples are forbidden.
Chronos Cat
Well, you have had some pinups with nude characters, we just never saw the details. ...I just hope it's something like that and not the LGBT themes; if they are classifying LGBT themes as "adult" I'm not going to be very comfortable using Patreon any more...

As a followup to this now that I am home - Tom from TwoKinds's answer to this was to upload any sketches he has to hide behind the age gate to his DeviantArt page. For example: https://www.deviantart.com/twokinds/art/Traditional-Tiger-Date-758160195 https://www.deviantart.com/twokinds/art/Tigress-Temptation-762894805 https://www.deviantart.com/twokinds/art/The-Apron-754814372 It could have been someone troll reporting your page, however - if so, they'll likely undo it. Although, Patreon has been being forced to crack down on that as of late from Mastercard, so...

I will say that there's a lot of pinups from your patreon that when I saved them locally that I dropped in the NSFW category on my hard drive. They're not explicit, but not something that I'd want my boss walking in on me when I had it up on the screen.

BUTTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when people try to suppress LGBTQ things, it makes me double down. It would be quadrupling down at this point, at least, but whatevs. I'm not going to claim that's what is happening hear without further evidence, however, as I can see someone looking at Susan going cowish and thinking "HUH." I think it's more PG-13 than R, but it is there site, and if they decide they have a different opinion, I'm just going to have to deal with it. If it IS prejudice, I'll be more fussy about it.

Me too, trans and gay characters and sex change transformations are going to set off someone’s “think of the children” radar. Eesh.
Stephen Gilberg
I suspect that the LGBT component plays a factor in their decision.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" predates the PG-13 rating. You'll need a more recent example.

I mean, I know that TF stuff is - for lack of a better term - fetish-adjacent, but given recent posts the timing is weird. It insinuates that either patreon is taking a gender-neutral stance on shirtless-ness, or Noah really IS that feminine...
Kendra Kirai
A number of Patreons that are safe have been flagged as adult lately. Just recently, the EXTREMELY safe patreon for Furry Experience, the Mormon-themed webcomic, got flipped to Adult as well.
WillowD
Hmm. Perhaps I should get a Tumbler account.
Platus
Patreon has been getting rather strict with this distinction, so it might be best to embrace it. Stripping your "pinups" of everything they'd flag would cut out a lot of what's great about it - especially all the gender-bendy, transformation stuff. Meanwhile, simply accepting the 18+ distinction on Patreon while linking to your tumblr leaves you with more freedom overall.

People coming here expecting truly "adult" content will be sooooo disappointed...
Copper Hamster
If people's faces melting like wax is PG, then bikini clad cowgirls are not PG-13. Wait that's the scene that got the PG-13 rating created. Uh... yeah. But I think calling your stuff adult only is stretched more than some of your character's outfits would be if not for the magic helping them.
Dan Shive
I do have bikini clad cowgirls. I'd say that's at least PG-13.
Halcyon
Good grief. Am I missing something? I wouldn't even say your content is PG-13, it's PG at most.
Dan Shive
Given the current situation, I don't want to link it in a post, but I can message you it.
Alex H
You are at most T for Teen
Karl Schild
That's strange. I mean, some of it can get a bit "racy" but more "cheesecake" or "beefcake" than anything else. It was weird having to certify that I am "Over 18" to get to this page, though.
McZed
Butts is okay. Less butts is okay. Either way.
coredumperror
Man, what the fuck is wrong with the Internet these days?? You, of ALL people that I patronize, getting marked as "adult"? Give me a fucking break, you Internet Puritan shitbags!
KiTA
They hit Two Kinds with this. Basically, furry non-nudity, like the one with the catgirl playing with a mouse, counts. Amusingly, bare butts specifically triggered them, even if they're furclad.

whats your Tumblr addr?
