In the manga, Ed needed to submit his annual research report, so he went to the closest Southern Command Center and happened to meet Bradley, who was there for an inspection. Bradley asked why Ed was in the southern region, and Ed replied that he was visiting his alchemy teacher. Since one of Bradley’s duties was to find potential sacrifices, he became interested in Izumi and decided to follow Ed back to Dublith secretly.

Bradley happens upon the Devil's Nest in a more natural way in the manga, but it's a minor change in the grand scheme of things, and the characters still touch on the point of "why did *he* come down here himself for such a small operation?" I suspect the content was just cut down a bit so as to not throw off the pacing for the episodes. Anyway, I was looking forward to seeing you get to this episode ever since Bradley temporarily won you over lol. Really fun episode with a ton of new info.
