Since 'The Goonies' was mentioned in the pod (and was a pretty common touch point for the wider media discussion around the show) I want to shout out a youtube video called "The Lost Version of 'The Goonies.'" You can learn all about things like the filmed (and then fully excised) gorilla escape subplot and see how much the movie was saved in the edit and really could have a been truly awful.
