The $15 discussion was exactly like building squads for miniatures games like Imperial Assault. In a 40pt list you might have Luke (12) and Han (10) as your heavy hitters, a couple squads of Echo Base Troopers (6) as your generic muscle and objective grabbers, R2 (3) and 3PO (2) as cheap support units, and a 1pt upgrade like some Extra Armor. Then put them on the table and see how they can do on a mission against someone else's squad!

This is such a narrow-cast but buying 15 R2-D2s in the draft is basically the same having an all charmed stray deck in magic the gathering.

Rex and R2 should be like, $3-$4 at LEAST. Rex will beat any non-Force wielder on that list because Rex is REX. He's the sort of dude that gets their own R Lee Ermey speech from On Deadly Ground. If Anakin left the Jedi Order for whatever reason Palpatine would be on that for the rebound immediately. The only retirement option I see is the Malachor V option, deafen him to the force completely and maybe he'd just move on and try to rebuild himself next to that old speeder bike he's working on at Padme's place.
