It's actually really clever work by Tom. Outside the meta it sells the backstage filming theme. If it was a full on redraw from the comic, it could be visually confused at a quick glance, especially on the smaller thumbnails. In universe it's almost certainly how a real set would be constructed to save a load of money, and allow exteriors / VFX to be done in post. But still enough for the actors to base their performance off.
