Not an Easy Target

As the tribe gathered its strength word of their plot traveled from ear to ear, across land and sea. Until eventually rumors that the Panther King could soon be resurrected reached the court of the Ming Dynasty.
Carlos sat in a small pub on the street waiting for word from the court. The news was just as he feared. Another tyrant rising to power in a foreign land. Of course, his client in the Ming court was only concerned about the disruption of trade between the mainland and the island to its east. Meanwhile, his thoughts dwelled on the rumors of the Panther King’s cruelty and barbarism.
Taking a boat to the island, Carlos would soon ingratiate himself to the tribe hoping to strike at just the right moment in order to disrupt the scheme. Perfectly willing to take all the help they could get the panther demons were quick to bring him into their ranks.
Unfortunately, the Daevas that ran the tribe in the King’s absence were rather tight-lipped about exactly how the King would be resurrected. And while Carlos usually could make some assumptions about who he needed to take out, he wasn’t particularly well versed in the finer aspects of magical rituals.
Forced to wait until the Daevas revealed their plan he knew he would be cutting it close.
Gathering as much information as he could on the Daevas and their weaknesses as well as the Tribe’s movements in the village they’d chosen to set their trap in, Carlos couldn’t help but feel sorry for the sons of the tribe’s enemy that would soon be arriving.
Clearly, he realized, they had some part in the ritual.
When the fighting began Carlos knew what he had to do. He had to incapacitate or kill one of the dog demons that were coming to stop the tribe. Without their sacrifice, the ritual might not be able to be completed.
Carlos watched from one of the huts as Toran fought...and oddly flirted with one of the dog demons. The two clearly had some history.
The man was tall, at least when compared to others in this part of the world. His cold demeanor matched the shards of ice that Toran flung his way. Though as they locked blades he couldn’t help but notice the demon’s physical reaction to the Daeva running her hand up his crotch in a teasing gesture.
The de facto leader of the Daevas was clearly taking great pleasure in trying to distract her enemy, though the dog demon seemed intent on not giving her the satisfaction of seeing him react.
Obviously, this was the heir of the dog general that the Panther Demons were so scared of...Lord Sesshomaru.
He was certainly powerful, there was no doubt about that as Carlos watched the two demons clash. But Carlos had dispatched his kind before. Lords like him took themselves far too seriously. Too much pride for their own good.
As Toran was forced to retreat she did so with a laugh, leaving the lord frustrated in more ways than one. Carlos could see the small blush on his cheeks as well as the distractingly large growth that was currently running along the leg of his pants.
Knowing his best chance to take out the demon lord was right as he was recovering, Carlos pulled out his crossbow and took aim. The bolt would strike the demon lord in his one good arm while its poison tip would knock him out within seconds. The demon would survive and be out just long enough for Carlos to get him away from whatever the Daeva’s plans for him were.
Carlos fired and flinched in shock as the demon lord caught the bolt effortlessly between two fingers without even looking.
Before the assassin could cover his escape the demon lord had already torn apart the side of the hut he’d been hiding in with a simple swing of his sword, “So, the Panther Tribe is being infiltrated by foreign assassins as well? Regardless, I’ll give you one chance to walk away. I suggest you take it.”
Shortsword in hand, Carlos tisked. How had figured him out with a simple glance? Either the dog demon was better informed than the assassin could have possibly predicted or this Sesshomaru had powers of deduction and perception that were beyond anything he’d ever encountered.
Things had spiraled out of control far too quickly. He could take the demon lord’s generous offer and walk away...but there was no guarantee the dog demon wouldn’t blow his cover. Not to mention every second Sesshomaru remained in the village was another chance for the Daevas to capture him and complete their ritual.
He couldn’t risk it. But he was going to have to finish this fast.
Covertly readying his cloaking device Carlos did his best to distract the demon lord, “Why, so you can get some alone time with Toran?”
The demon lord’s eyes narrowed.
“Not that I blame you. She was playing you like a fiddle. Though it’s gonna be hard taking her on again with one arm and TWO swords,” Carlos nodded to the still engorged tent snaking along Sesshomaru’s leg.
Sesshomaru lunged forward faster than the eye could see, having given Carlos his chance to retreat.
But the assassin was ready for him, activating the cloaking device he vanished from sight and ducked under the demon lord’s sword swing hearing the blade imbed itself in the ground. Bringing up his own shortsword Carlos had a singular second to think how easy it had been to put demon lord off balance. Nobles like him were so predictable when they got angry.
But his thought was short-lived.
Sesshomaru’s now empty hand whipped around and harshly slapped the blade out of Carlos’s invisible hands just in time. The assassin hadn’t even seen the demon lord let go of his sword’s hilt.
Trying to leap back, Carlos’ breath was cut short as Sesshomaru grabbed the invisible assassin by the throat and held him aloft with one hand before driving him into the ground. The assassin hit the floor with enough force to knock the wind out of him and shatter his cloaking device.
Stunned and now visible once more, the assassin felt the demon lord place a boot on his chest to hold him in place.
Spots dotted Carlos’ vision as he watched in confusion as the dog demon began to take off his armor, “Perhaps you’re right. It would be foolish to wade into Toran’s trap so distracted.”
Carlos looked up knowing he couldn’t even reach for a weapon with the demon looking down at him so intently...and with a strange gimmer in his glowing amber eyes.
The demon continued, “In which case, you may want to make yourself useful...if you want to survive.”
Sesshomaru reached down and opened up his pants to reveal one of the largest cocks Carlos had ever seen.

In the end, Carlos watched from a nearby hill as the demon lord and others defeated the resurrected Panther King. All in all, the assassin couldn’t help but be annoyed with his performance.
Truthfully he had no idea his role in all of it. Had his presence in this plot been inconsequential? Or had the bit of relief he provided to Sesshomaru following Toran’s flirtations given the demon lord just enough presence of mind to emerge victorious?
He may never know.
But...he did know that after the demon lord’s terrifying display of dominance, Lord Sesshomaru was going to have a very special place in the back of Carlos’ mind whenever he found some alone time.
