Who are Polyx and Shiro? Why they exist?

Polyx and Shiro are a part of Kane's subconscious: Polyx is the passion, in fact, she is a female. Kane always was a kind of man with a lot of passion, emotive and physical. For him, a female body represents the love, the passion, the flame inside you. Shiro is the guilt. Kane feels a lot guilty over what he did, but he had his reasons, if he didn't do that, Leia would go away, but she is dead and he is no longer happy, he destroyed a life. The guilt is one of the most intense emotions he feels during his life.
Polyx and Shiro are so so skinny because it represents the anorexia of Leia. Their eyes are black, crying black tears, because they show the frustration Kane had to see Leia anorexic, to see her pain.
They wear clothes style similar to the mafia. It's connected with the general meaning of the word “ mafia “. Mafia is a criminal organization based on the omerta, the silence over a crime. Polyx and Shiro represent a sort of criminal organization, doing crimes on Kane's mind and memories, to let him stay in silence and don't say what he did.
Polyx and Shiro appears when Kane feels extremely alone, being a sort of company to him, even it's not always the best
