Hmm, this is my opinion, and others may share it, but you cant really use bastard as an insult as 'we' would in ASOIAF. It just has a different context, and It feels like Brandon is talking about how Wylis is the illegitimate son of some Noble. Ignoring the possibility that he is the grandson of Duncan the tall, It just took me out of the scene a bit. Food for thought.
