Tony chuckled. "He wore it for a chess game?"
Soon, Tony entered the large entertainment hall where all the faculty and students had gathered. There were at least fifty students in the school now, far more than before. From as young as eight years to as old as thirty—all students.
Some played games on PlayStations, some used the snooker table, others ping-pong. The ones who loved calm sat at the windows with headphones on and books in hand. A few were even watching the live coverage of the election.
"Mr. Stark! Can I take a selfie with you?" A kid approached him excitedly.
Tony looked and reckoned he was no older than eleven or twelve, the same age as Peter. "No. Not unless you've got pizza."
The little boy looked behind and then at nearby tables. Nervous, he looked back at Tony. By now he had heard so much about Tony from the news and people around that the man before him was like an untouchable behemoth. A man far more important than someone who'd entertain a kid.
"I-I don't…"
"Hmm." Tony frowned and looked at his watch. "Any minute now."
Bam!
Suddenly the hall's doors burst open. Five spare Iron Guardians walked in with huge bags of pizza boxes, burgers, fries, various soda drinks, and beer crates with them.
"We got pizza now." Tony looked back at the kid, took the selfie, signed his T-shirt at his request, and left after ruffling his hair.
To him, it's an insignificant memory. For the kid who saw him as a role model, it was the world.
"Eat up!" Tony clapped, ushering the hall into cheers as all the teens and adults grabbed a bite.
He went ahead and took a seat with Charles and Erik, the two oldies in a chess face-off.
"Stark, aid me," Erik jokingly said. "I believe he's somehow cheating. I don't remember him being this good in the past."
"I got better," Charles declared.
Tony chuckled, relaxing in the seat. "You know what we do to grumpy old men who fight all the time? We send them to nursing homes."
"..."
"Let's have a match, Stark."
Tony looked to his side, one brow raised. It was the one guy he wasn't a fan of, Scott Summers. Always annoying and antagonistic for no reason.
"Sure."
Quickly Charles and Erik moved. Then, seven minutes passed.
"You need some polishing, bud. Give it… five years? You'll last a mighty ten minutes then… maybe."
Scott frowned and left. Behind him, his redheaded girlfriend followed, scolding him for even trying to defeat a guy in chess whose whole shtick was being super intelligent.
"What's his deal?" Tony muttered, scratching his beard. "ED?"
"What's that?" Erik inquired.
"Erectile Dysfunction," Charles added nonchalantly, slightly chuckling.
"..."
Playing chess, eating, and pulling each other's legs. The atmosphere inside Xavier Mansion was one of joy and laughter. Tony's efforts to introduce mutants to society were going smoothly. The progress made in just one year was considerably more than what Charles or Erik had achieved in their whole lives.
This new success wasn't because Tony was a super genius. It happened because he was Tony Stark. His name, fame, and heroic actions were the sole driving force behind the change. Soon, with his entry into the Oval Office, the hope for a bright future had only risen more.
Charles and Erik, both men put significant faith in him ever since the Battle.
"It's happening!" Kitty Pryde shouted, pointing at the TV screen. The day was coming to an end, and most of the students had left to sleep or study. But most adults across the nation were awake.
Slowly, 10 PM arrived, and the maps projected on the TV screen started to show the color metallic Grey covering plenty of states, signifying the lead. But the main thing to note was the margin. There was no such thing as Swing States in this election.
Tony Stark belonged to no party, and yet he stood unchallenged.
For the first time since George Washington, someone had come so close to winning as an Independent. Of course, this was also the biggest proof that popularity can win one the election. This also revealed the biggest flaw—What happens if an Independent wins? Can they even stay without the support of the Congress that's divided between the two?
Sighing, Tony opened his Iron Guardian livestream that Jarvis controlled, showing the best badass moments related to Iron Guardians happening in real-time across the country. The live viewer count was three million, and the chat was raging.

Tony focused back on the TV instead. The chat seemed to not care about the election and had already declared him the winner, spamming congratulations with eagle emojis.
"LOOK! IT'S OVER!" Yukio shouted, jumping. "Over 300!"
"It was expected, but Congratulations, Stark." Erik shook his hand.
Tony, however, felt no excitement for some reason. He had already accepted victory so early that this was like the burp after you're done eating the delicious meal. "Thanks, I guess I should head back to Stark Tower and prepare the speech."
He glanced back at the screen. 270 was needed to be declared a clear winner, and he was already at 300. Counting wasn't done yet, and that's what made him more excited.
How high could he go?

Tony descended onto the stage set in front of the Stark Tower right in Manhattan where the alien invasion had happened. Clean and back to normal, the only sign left of the devastation was a few broken buildings.
Thud!
Not alone, but with ten Iron Guardians who landed right with Tony, standing behind him in a straight line from the right edge of the stage to the left. This was the show of power, and also his warning. He didn't trust the Secret Service anymore, or any government organization so to speak. Not even Fury, since interests could change at any time.
"We did it!" he announced, staying comfortably in the suit, just lifting the helmet as he stepped up to the mic. "What a victory! Last time I checked, we were holding strong at Three-O-Nine, and something tells me, folks, we're only going up from here."
The crowd cheered like crazy at his declaration, waving countless posters and banners of Tony. It was a cold night, but the enthusiasm was high.
"But hey, this is just the warm-up! Get ready for the most revolutionary four years of your lives. Now, I know some of you are worried about Congress not supporting me—don’t be. I can’t name names, but I’ve got the backing of eighty senators and ninety percent of the House. Guess they just couldn’t resist the charm. What can I say?"
They had no other choice. Tony thought inside. Money, technology, and a bit of manipulation went a long way in influencing the politicians. Everyone had skeletons in their closet, and everyone was scared of being found out.
"Get ready for the most technologically transformative four years of your lives! By the time I'm done, we might just be colonizing Mars and giving our Solar System a proper tour. So buckle up, folks! Tony Stark is in the house—God bless America!"
He waved at that and rumbled, jetting off into the sky alone first, heading to the top-floor mansion. After him, the ten Iron Guardians flew up straight into the sky, letting out strips of smoke behind the color of red, white, and blue, as tall as the Stark Tower itself.
The crowds had already listened to others giving a speech before him, so his short one was the final act. He may have spoken less, but it meant a lot, and it was a pure spectacle.
It sent shudders across the puppet masters when Tony declared his Congress support.

November 9th,
"The hell? Buddy, that little experiment of yours was one spark away from turning my entire top floor into a fireworks display!" Tony shouted at his new research buddy since the previous night, Reed Richards.
"Look, it’s not exactly my fault you pulled me in this late. You had access to gravity manipulation tech and the files on a Light Speed Engine—do you realize what that could've done for my work? I'd probably be scheduling tours to the next galaxy by now."
"Well, no need for that now. They came to visit us first." Tony folded his arms, tiredly looking at the screen. He wanted to work on the propulsion and gravity tech, so he had called Reed to help. Who'd have thought the man would be useless in the long run, too focused on the tiniest details, wasting time. "Send me the new data."
"Still recording."
Tony sighed and looked at the guy. No wonder Sue left you.
Ring! Ring!
Just then, Tony's phone rang. He put on a smile and tapped on the screen, finding Pepper's pretty, smiling face on the other side. "Strange, I've never seen you smile that big."
"Tony–no! Mr. President! We almost have the final numbers!" Pepper seemed out of breath just saying it. "Oh, I'm so happy I'd jump in your arms if I was there."
Tony lazily slouched back on the chair and asked for the number. He had already won, so everything else was just the cherry on top. Anything above 270, and close to 538 was great.
"What?!"
But even he couldn't stop himself from sitting straight at the revelation.
"Five-twenty-two?!"
