Voldemort Is Harry 13 - The 8th One
🕑 Added 2024-05-07 17:19:43 +0000 UTCInstead of returning to school immediately, Harry stopped by the Three Broomsticks and ate a sumptuous meal. It was nearing evening, and after having 'exercised' so much, he was famished.
Finally, after that, Harry returned to the school with the sole aim of finding Slughorn. Christmas had gone by, and not much time was left for the sixth year to end. The closer it got to the exams, the more anxious he felt since things kept happening around that time.
"There you are!" Ron approached him as soon as he headed towards the Great Hall. "Did you do something to Draco?"
"What happened?"
"He's been running around school, asking where you are," Ron replied and pulled Harry to the side. "You can tell me, Harry. What did you do?"
Ron looked rather excited, and Harry knew the current Ron would tell everything to Lavender in a heartbeat. "Nothing… just broke something that belonged to him."
"Serves him right." Ron scoffed and walked to the Great Hall for dinner with Harry. "But be careful. He was walking around with his wand out."
Must be enraged with his plan ruined. Harry reckoned and clenched his wand in his jacket pocket. Now that he can't fulfill his duty to Voldemort, he's like a cornered dog.
Soon, they arrived at the Great Hall and sat down for dinner. Harry sat between Hermione and Ron, listening to both of them lecture him about being careful. But Harry didn't feel hungry, nor scared of Draco. He kept glancing at the teacher's table, noticing Slughorn there.
He tried to come up with a plan to make the old spineless Professor talk. How could he sit there and smile, knowing he's protecting the Dark Lord's secret and leading us to ruin?
After having been through so many faceoffs with Voldemort, and having been mentally inflicted by the Dark Lord himself, Harry couldn't bring himself to be as patient and kind. He wanted this whole ordeal to be over so he could just live his life normally.
Even I had enough courage to face off against him as a first-year student, and he's supposed to be a great potioneer? A powerful wizard? Harry wondered, growing frustrated more and more. What's the use of all that knowledge when it isn’t even used?
Harry, still armed with some knowledge from Voldemort's memory, and also the materials from the book of the Half-Blood Prince, felt much more confident in getting the old Professor to talk one way or another.
But I can't force him. He knew Dumbledore would be dissatisfied if he forced the man.
"Harry."
"Stay away, Parkinson!" Ron quickly shielded Harry's back with his arm.
Harry looked behind, seeing Pansy standing there. He remembered the charming potions lessons he had given her previously. He had enjoyed her rather thoroughly, and also taken a few pictures. She was nothing but his pawn at this point.
"What is it, Ms. Parkinson?" He asked.
Pansy extended her hand, giving him a folded paper. "Draco wants me to give this to you."
Harry took it and read it silently. Meet me at Myrtle's bathroom right now. Every hour you delay, someone you hold dear will feel my wrath. Beginning, of course, with that scatterbrained Lovegood."
Now you've done it. Harry sighed and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Hermione got up as well.
Harry frowned and gently pushed her to sit back in her seat. "Stay here. I'll deal with this myself."
"You can't possibly go there alone, Harry. What i—"
"I said…" Harry glared into her eyes, shutting her up. "I will take care of it. Don’t you trust me?"
"Harry…" Hermione murmured but sat down silently and watched Harry stride away. She looked at Ron then. "Did he… sound different to you?"
"Badass, that's what I saw," Ron barked. "Let's go, we should at least be nearby in case something happens."

Wand out, Harry quickly arrived at the first floor and entered Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. As soon as he went inside, he saw Draco at the back near the dyed glass window, standing with Luna right before him, his wand aimed at her neck.
"Hey, Harry." Luna chirped as if fear was an unknown concept for her.
"Let her go, Malfoy." Harry reasoned before teaching the boy a lesson. "I'm here as you asked. You don't want to end up in Azkaban now, do you?"
"Potter." Draco sneered and pushed Luna away roughly with his hand.
"Leave, Luna," Harry firmly ordered her. "I don't want you to get injured."
"I'll go call a professo—"
"No need." Harry stopped her from doing that. "Just return to your dorm. I'm enough to teach this spoiled brat a lesson he would never forget."
"Okay, Harry," Luna chirped back and walked away lazily as if nothing had happened.
Finally, alone, Harry raised his wand towards Draco, matching the stance for a duel. "What's got you wiggling like a dying cockroach, Draco?"
"You know what you did!" Draco growled, his eyes bloodshot. They appeared puffed as well, as if he had been crying.
"Oh! Don't tell me it's because I blasted that old, rotten cabinet?" Harry asked back, teasing him to make the first move. "Why? Did you put something important in it?"
"Expulso!" Draco swung his wand first.
"Protego!" Harry blocked it easily and reacted. "Stupefy!"
Draco stepped back and managed to block it to a degree, but he still got pushed back to the wall behind him. "You have no idea what you have done, Potter!"
Harry slowly stepped forward. "Oh, but I do."
"Confringo!"
Harry once again blocked it. "Expelliarmus!"
Thud!
With nowhere to move, Draco was hit by Harry's quick reaction. His body got slammed back against the wall once again, and his wand flew out of his hand and landed in Harry's grasp.
"Aaargh!" Draco still tried to get up and attack Harry like a raging bull.
"Locomotor Wibbly!" Harry had no mercy and turned Draco's legs into jelly, landing him on the floor with a thud. Draco hit his face as well, making his nose bleed profusely.
"You ruined my life! You’ve—"
"I saved your pathetic existence." Harry cut him off and approached him, his wand aimed at Draco's face. "If living is so hard, perhaps I should free your soul right now? Why waste life at Azkaban?"
"You wouldn't dare, Potter!"
"Stupefy!" Harry struck Draco with the stunning spell. But he controlled the output and only made it hurt Draco and stun him for a few moments. "Kill? Perhaps not. But I sure can have you sent to Azkaban for conspiring to kill Dumbledore. For preparing the Vanishing Cabinet so the Death Eaters could invade the school."
Draco's eyes widened in horror. "Y-You knew!"
"Stupefy!" Harry shot him again, torturing him at that point. "Did you forget who I have under my control? Bellatrix Lestrange! I know everything, Malfoy!"
"T-The Dark Lord won't let y—"
"Anything else? He's tried five times already and failed every single time," Harry mockingly replied, his voice lost in anger. "I don't understand you, Malfoy. You have wealth, a name, and a family. Yet, you want to throw it all away just to grovel at the feet of a creature that couldn't even kill me as a baby. You think he can do anything now that I have grown?"
Draco sneered, growling in some pain. "Don't be so proud, Potter. You will soon know your plac—"
"Stupefy," Harry hit him again, leaving Draco on the verge of fainting. "You're beyond saving. I don't know what your mother sees in you for her to come pleading at my feet to save your sorry existence."
"Mother?!" Draco forced himself to wake up from the stupor. "W-What are you saying?"
"Hah!" Harry laughed; any semblance of the old, kind, gentle Harry lost. What stood there now terrified Draco. "So you don't know? I pity you, Malfoy. You try to prove yourself as a powerful wizard, yet you kneel before someone's feet. Grow a spine for once, or be grateful if you even get to reach Azkaban!"
With that, Harry stepped back.
Snap!
Harry broke Draco's wand in half and walked to the door. "Cross my path again, or pull anything like this—I’ll forget my promise to your mother… Ah, I truly pity her."
Walking outside, Harry noticed Hermione and Ron standing there. He shrugged and led them away to the Gryffindor common room.
Left behind, Draco stayed lying on the wet floor, staring at the dark ceiling. Humbled, ashamed, defeated, and lost—he felt like an utter failure. He failed his task from the Dark Lord, and he failed as a son.
"Why, Mother?" he mumbled, frustrated to learn about Narcissa. "Why plead to him?"

Harry returned to the dorm room and hit the bed right away. It had been a long and fruitful day, but still, handling two women like Narcissa and Bellatrix took plenty of energy. So he closed his eyes and tried to sleep.
Yet, sleep wasn’t so easily earned by Harry. Plagued by nightmares of Voldemort and his surprise attack, he couldn't relax even in his sleep. The fear of the Dark Lord taking over his mind always lingered.
Turning and twisting, feeling warm and cold at the same time. Harry didn't even realize when the windows started simmering the room with the morning light. Yet, his face looked tired, his eyes swollen from sleeplessness.
He wanted to stay in bed, but he forced himself up. It was the last day of the Easter holiday, and he wanted to deal with Slughorn that day itself.
"You look like my dead grandma," Ron muttered, seeing his friend.
Harry glanced over and saw Ron still lying in his bed. "No date today?"
"Lavender said she wants to take a break," Ron replied.
Isn't that like a breakup? Harry wondered, not sure since he never had a relationship.
"I know what you're thinking," Ron added, sighing. "I'm not sure either."
"You're not sad?" Harry asked.
Ron shrugged, but he grinned after that. "Slightly, yes. But it was fun while it lasted. We did a lot of things together… A lot of fun things."
Is he talking about shagging?
"Yeah," Ron responded, as if reading Harry's expressions. "She's almost a maniac when it comes to that, but it was also fun. Anyway, what are your plans for today? I'm just going to sleep."
Harry got out of bed wearily. "Well, I'm off to meet Professor Slughorn."
"Ugh…" Ron just turned around and closed his eyes. "Good luck learning potions. Even Hermione's jealous of you."
All thanks to the Half-Blood Prince. Harry thought and got dressed quickly before heading out to the washroom to brush and clean his face. After that, he headed to Professor Slughorn's place.
"It's locked?" Harry knocked for a long time and tried to open it as well, but the door remained closed. "Not a good start. My luck's too ba… Wait."
Just then, Harry remembered the liquid luck that he had won in Potions class. Wasting no time, he quickly searched his pants pocket and took out the glass vial. He always kept it with him whenever going out, now finally being the time to use it.
He removed the wooden cork and poured all of the golden liquid into his mouth. Then, he waited, and suddenly started feeling good for no apparent reason. It felt as if everything was perfect, and his breath was soothing.
Like all the fatigue of the sleepless night was gone.
"Broom," Harry exclaimed and started walking away without a second thought. He went out of the school building and reached the Quidditch grounds, where he entered the locker rooms and got himself a broom.
Then he kicked his feet and flew up into the sky. However, he didn't keep himself restricted to just the grounds. He went wherever his mind told him to. Flying over the school's tall towers, he passed Hagrid's hut, and from there, flew close to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
"What's that?" Harry saw something move from some height and dived down. "Is that Fang?"
Harry eventually landed on the ground, just at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. He saw Hagrid's dog barking at one of the trees. Looking up, Harry saw movement up there.
"Professor Slughorn?" Harry exclaimed in shock. "What are you doing up there?"
"Harry?! Oh, m'boy. Give me a hand, will you?" Slughorn started to climb down from the tree, and Harry helped the old man on the last few steps. "I found a rare seed up there. I think some bird dropped it."
"Seed for what?"
"Potions, my dear boy," Slughorn chimed with a gleaming smile, deftly transferring the seeds he'd acquired into a dainty glass vial. "You won't come across these gems in any ordinary market, I assure you. Unless, of course, you're willing to part with a rather hefty sum. And what are you doing here? It's dangerous, Harry."
"I know," Harry replied, looking towards the forest. "I felt like I needed a breath of fresh air."
"Don't we all these days," Slughorn muttered. "We should return to the school now."
Harry didn't object and started walking beside Slughorn. "Did you know, Professor? The Dark Lord tasked Draco with killing Professor Dumbledore this year."
"..."
Slughorn almost stumbled and fell face-first on the ground. He stared at Harry, noticing his normal expressions. "It's not something you should joke about—"
"There was an old Vanishing Cabinet that Draco was repairing in the school. But I destroyed it. They were planning to strike the school from inside this time," Harry continued, his mind telling him to just blurt it all out.
"W-What?" Slughorn exclaimed in utter shock. "Did you tell Dumbledore?"
"Not yet. Draco confronted me yesterday to fight me. But I disarmed him and let him go," Harry added. "Dark Lord had gained control of my mind too. He could peer through my eyes and see whatever I saw. It was excruciating... But I've figured out how to push back, how to shield my thoughts and keep him out."
"..."
"I've got to stop him, Professor. If I don't, he'll keep coming after me. Who knows, maybe one day he'll even take over my mind, and..." Harry's words stumbled out like a broken record. "Do you have any idea how I can fight him, Professor?"
"F-Fight? Him?"
"Of course. Someone's got to face him, right? I mean, aren't I the Chosen One? He failed to defeat me so many times, and I don't think he will stop until he has," Harry replied, unknowingly saying all the right words. "But if the baby me can survive the odds, I think I can do that once again—If not for anything, then for my Mum."
"L-Lily?" Slughorn muttered, his thoughts a mess. "O-Oh… she was indeed brave."
"Then I should make her proud," Harry exclaimed. "You should make her proud too. Won't you fight alongside me, Professor? Against the evil Dark Lord?"
"F-Fight?" Slughorn repeated again.
"Why not? If there is something magical… afterlife out there. I don't want to be seen as a coward by my parents. If I can defeat him, then it's not a matter of 'if' I should, but 'how' I should." Harry continued on and on, hitting the man right where it hurts. Shame, more shame, and even more of it. "I'd rather die fighting than hide behind some walls like a coward. It's not as if the world will be peaceful if he wins. He will kill anyone that even remotely knows about his past, that he's Tom Riddle."
Thud!
Slughorn sat down on the ground roughly. "Y-You can’t… defeat him, Harry. He can’t be defeated."
"Mum did," Harry replied. “They say I defeated the Dark Lord as a baby. But it was my Mum, her love, and her protection that saved me. She gave her life to save me."
"It's not enough," Slughorn added, his brows furrowed. "Just defeating him isn't enough… He's a monster."
"Then tell me about him." Harry knelt down beside him, grabbing the scared Slughorn by his shoulders. "How do I defeat him?"
"N-None can… I can't, Harry…"
He's a coward! Harry felt angered, his patience waning.
"Professor, is this truly how you wish to be remembered? As someone who held the key to defeating the Dark Lord but remained silent? As someone who could have been a savior to the world but instead allowed darkness to prevail? A man—"
"I'm not evil!" Slughorn barked. "I… I couldn't see the evil within him."
"Right now, I can't see the good in you, Professor," Harry talked back, shattering his heart. "Help me find it, Professor."
Slughorn defeatedly looked at Harry. "What if you hate me after seeing it?"
"I won't hold it against you. It was in Tom Riddle's very nature to deceive us all. You, Professor Dumbledore, he managed to deceive a lot of people," Harry reassured, aiding the man in lifting his wand towards his temples. "But if you deny me even the opportunity to understand, I might not last much longer—I'd certainly hold that against you."
Slughorn, a man somewhat cowardly, was more concerned with his own safety and comfort than anything else. He was dominated by his obsession with influence and fame—he feared losing all that if his darkest secret came out.
That it was his words that led to the rise of the Dark Lord.
"You can do it, Professor."
Slughorn eventually extracted his memory and placed it in a test tube. "Please don't think badly of me when you see it. You've no idea what he was like, even then."
Harry wasted no time and took the test tube from him. "I won't, Professor. This is a battle between good and evil. And you just chose to stand by the good."

Harry escorted Slughorn all the way to his room in the castle before heading towards Dumbledore's office. Finally, he had what he needed the most—a clear answer to how to defeat Voldemort.
"Harry!"
"Ginny?" Harry saw the red-haired Weasley girl rushing towards him, her legs slender, clad in tight jeans, while her top was a black t-shirt with a tight blue cardigan. "I heard what happened."
I hope she won't go crazy like last time. Harry prayed, continuing to walk. He had already gotten intimate with the girl on two occasions. First at the Burrow and then recently when Ron almost caught them. To his eyes, Ginny was a beautiful girl, and he had no aversion to tasting her as well.
But he felt too occupied at the moment. "I'm going to the Headmaster's office."
"Then…" Ginny stopped following him midway as they arrived at the entrance to the Headmaster's office. "I'll wait for you here."
Harry just gave her a nod and headed up to the office. Like always, it was filled with a magical air, books everywhere, the portraits of the previous headmasters moving. Fawkes stayed perched atop its perch as well, while Dumbledore sat in his chair.
"I got it, Professor." Harry raised the test tube. "Professor Slughorn's memory."
"I always knew you could do it, Harry." Dumbledore stood up right away and brought Harry over to the Pensieve. "Prepare yourself—for any intrusion of mind."
He knows? Harry froze for a moment. But I never told him I found a cure… did he see me do Romilda—no, no, no…
He didn't say anything and followed Dumbledore into plunging their faces into the Pensieve. Right away, the memory of Slughorn revealed the young Tom Riddle. By the fireplace, the two spoke with one another.
Harry watched as Tom Riddle steered into the topic of Horcruxes. A bit shaken, Slughorn didn't refuse his best student the right to knowledge and gave away everything. The more Tom asked, the more Slughorn felt uncomfortable, yet he always answered the questions.
"...For instance, isn't seven—?"
"Seven? Merlin's beard, Tom," Slughorn exclaimed, disgusted by the mere thought.
"...Of course, Sir. It'll be our little secret."
Woosh!
Right then, Harry felt his thoughts being forced out of the Pensieve, and the next thing he knew, he was panting, standing straight, and staring at Dumbledore's similarly shocked face.
It makes sense now. Harry had his own thoughts that ate his heart and mind, however. The only reason why he could peer into my mind… control my thoughts.
Dumbledore walked to the nearby stairs and sat down wearily. His eyes blinked with countless thoughts floating through him. "This is beyond anything I imagined."
"So he succeeded?" Harry asked, his own theory slowly gaining traction in his thoughts.
"Oh yes, he succeeded, all right. And not just once," Dumbledore replied.
Harry stepped forward. "What does a Horcrux look like, Professor?"
"Anything—from the most mundane to the most valuable treasure," Dumbledore responded and got up, rushing to his table to open a drawer, taking out some items. "A ring, for example. Or a book."
Harry silently stared at Tom Riddle's diary.
"Years ago, when you brought me this diary, I knew this was a very different kind of magic. Very dark, and very powerful. But until tonight, I had no idea just how powerful," Dumbledore continued speaking.
Harry stared at the ring. "And this?"
"It belonged to Voldemort's mother. Difficult to find. Even more difficult to destroy." Dumbledore revealed his cursed hand. "Now, the only way to destroy Voldemort is to destroy all the remaining of the seven Horcruxes."
"Eight!"
Dumbledore looked straight at Harry's face and eyes, but his gaze was focused on the scar. "What do you mean?"
"Speaking Parseltongue, seeing dreams that actually happen... having my mind invaded by him... I can even glimpse into his thoughts," Harry said. The more he spoke, the more his tongue felt dry. "I'm the eighth one, aren't I?"
Dumbledore froze for a moment, gathering his own thoughts. "A mere conjecture, Harry."
"This curse mark…" Harry looked down, feeling utterly broken. "It takes a murder to create a Horcrux, and that night my Mum died."
"Don't lose the battle with yourself, Harry."
"I must die for Voldemort to die?" Harry asked straightforwardly.
Dumbledore looked down, sighing. He didn't answer, however. He couldn't bring himself to do that. "Fate works in strange ways, Harry. You are the prophesied child, and… you will be victorious. I have my faith in you."
"How does one survive death, Professor?" Harry questioned, slowly accepting his situation. Excited and headstrong some moments ago due to the potion, now he felt hopeless. "If his end leads through my death… how can I survive?"
"That is a mystery we must solve before everything comes to its culmination."
Harry breathed deeply and rubbed his face, his fingers combed through his hair. How he was imagining living without the fear of Voldemort in the future. Now, he was almost sure he wouldn't even be living.
"May I return to my dorm and rest?" Harry suddenly asked.
Dumbledore didn't hold Harry back despite having much to talk about. He reckoned it was better to let the boy gather himself first. "You are not alone, Harry."
Harry nodded and left the headmaster's office. Walking down the spiral staircase, he absentmindedly started walking towards the dorms. His heart was racing, his temples pulsating as his thoughts fell into a whirlpool of uncertainty.
"Harry!"
Harry didn't hear anything and kept walking.
Pat!
"Hey, what happened?" Ginny finally approached him and patted his shoulder, grabbing his attention. "Are you alright?"
Harry stopped and looked back. He raised his face up, taking in his gaze Ginny from her feet to her face. Her flaming red hair was loose around her head, her face a little freckled, and her concerned bright brown eyes shining. "Let's do it."
"What?" Ginny frowned.
"Let's do it," Harry repeated and suddenly grabbed Ginny's hand by the wrist. He started walking right away, leading Ginny to the stairs. He kept on climbing floor after floor, eventually reaching the seventh floor, and finally standing before the wall that held the Room of Requirement.
Ginny was almost certain what Harry meant, and it made her blush. "A-Are you sure?"
"Never been more sure," Harry replied back and summoned the door. Then, he opened the door and walked in—a small, empty room with nothing in there, not even a bed. There was just a bright ceiling light above, below a lone wooden chair with no armrests, and far in the back was a lone, soft mattress right on the floor.
If I'm going to die. Harry turned around and faced Ginny. I'd rather die after experiencing all that there is.
He stepped closer to Ginny in a rushed motion and heavy handedly cupped the softness of her neck. They had just entered the room, so Harry pressed her against the wall, his green eyes matching with hers—both filled with primal lust.
But for Harry, it felt more like hunger. He remembered no concept of romance anymore. No concept of being gentle anymore. He just wanted to taste this girl that had continued to tempt him for so long.
"Um…" Ginny breathed a moan as Harry pressed his body against her, his one knee going between her legs and spreading them, his upper thigh rubbing her covered core.
