Thank you for pointing all of this out. I really appreciate it the Thai specific social commentary that I didn’t pick up on. Thanks for enlightening me, now I have even more to think about ❤️

I obviously really Enjoy (pun intended) your recap of this show. I think that there might be at least three more social/political statements by this show that make sense in a Thailand context. However, many apply across countries. FWIW: 1. The show appeared to say that parents interfering in their children’s lives was not fundamentally wrong, but all about motivation. Rin’s father was interested in his daughter’s well being. He pushed her into a “marriage” with someone who was also gay and would help keep Rin occupied (not depressed). Kirk’s mom interfered in an attempt to improve her family’s social status. She didn’t care who got hurt. One was ok and one wasn’t. 2. Thailand has a severe demographic problem with too few younger people and too many older. Plus, the birth rate is low. This show presents same sex families (especially women) as a possible part of the solution. I find this particularly interesting as some people might not approve of the idea of families with same sex parents. 3. Like many countries, Thailand only legally recognizes sex assigned at birth. I think that Balloon was meant as an example of why this shouldn’t be true legally or socially. My best guess (something I would never do IRL) is that Balloon is a nonbinary bisexual. I don’t think that Balloon realized the bisexual part until they meet Jay. And, in the show, everyone was just fine with it.
