It's been a couple of weeks now and I am happy to report that I'm back at HCHQ and back at it.
I was going to detail everything, but I was told by a good friend of mine that people don't remember your words, per se, but how you make them feel. So here it is in a nutshell:
Took a trip to Vegas to hang out with my good friend Jody and play poker (including one of the small WSOP events). I won a fair bit at cash games, but nothing in the tournament. Then came back home and spent a couple days relaxing and playing at my local casino (Encore Boston Harbor) that just opened and won a fair bit playing poker as well. Note, for those that aren't aware: I used to play poker professionally and only play poker, no pit games/slots etc. Things went well and we had a good time. Drank a fair bit of watermelon juice (if you go to Aria, Bellagio, or other MGM properties...seriously, enjoy. It's worth the trip :) ), and overall, was in a good place mentally and refreshed when I got back home.
Then this past weekend, I had every intention of getting back to work and catching up on things...but I just couldn't. I wish I could explain it...the best way I know how to explain it is to post something I saw on Twitter today (attached and quoted here):
Do you ever notice yourself getting bad again? Like, you know you're not doing work that needs to be done, you know you're not cleaning, you know you're not taking care of yourself, you know all the things you need to do to start trying to feel better. But you just can't.
That was me for the last few days, up until today. I'm happy to report that today I'm out of the 'funk' that I seemed to be in the last handful of days. So I'm back and feeling good, as of today.
So here is the plan for the show: There is only going to be one live-stream this week: Friday evening will be a full teach and play-through of Petrichor.
After that, it'll be the 'normal' schedule, including the podcast next week! Expect the normal 2-3 live-streams each week and a fortnightly podcast (predominantly reviews).
So I hope y'all enjoyed the break and were able to catch up on the content from the last few months. I'm refreshed, clear-headed and in a really good place...and hella excited to get back to the show. I missed y'all. I really did.
Other than the content, I'm going to be welcoming all the new Patrons over the next day or so, getting folks access to Slack, Teaching Notes, and finally, working on getting y'all your Patron rewards over the next couple of weeks. While doing the Patron rewards, I'll be shipping out HeavyCon shirts for all of the attendees as well. Lots of logistics, but I'm excited to tackle it all. Please keep an eye out this weekend for a short survey regarding your Patron rewards, too. If you don't answer it, I can't get you your stuff!
So, let's get back on the horse and crush it the rest of 2019! Thank you all for the support and, equally important, your support of me taking a break the past couple of weeks. I didn't realize how much I really needed a true step-away from the show and such. I think we all are going to benefit from that break.
