We lost a soldier today gamers
🕑 Added 2021-07-08 20:35:45 +0000 UTCWanted to give you guys a heads up first—baby kevin was out during his regular free ranging and got his leg caught in between two cement pillars—I was getting groceries at the time and wasn’t able to get him unstuck immediately. And as I mentioned in the videos they have a high mortality rate for a lot of reasons but one is simply due to their lack of intelligence. When baby Kevin got caught he must have kicked his free foot so much that it bruised/sprained it and he wasn’t able to walk on it. After bringing him inside and keeping him warm and well fed, he quietly passed away later that night in his sleep in the brooder. Stress and leg injuries take a big toll on these guys.
This is also why I still haven’t given them real names yet. They get out of their “danger zone” after 3-4 months. Although I couldn’t have prevented that and he was fine free ranging during the day for the last month, I’m going to be more closely supervising the other babies to ensure their safe development.
If anyone wants to help me make a tribute video I’m going to be taking him up to Waco and burrying him beneath a tree I’m planting in his memory up near where the little pond will be.

baby kevin had the best oppurtinity to live in bens care as they are very susceptible to cougars and jaguars in their natural habitat in south america!

Sad like... Sadly life always has dropouts.. Even though baby kevin was a cute litte birb, he had an unfortunate accident.. I think he had a better chance over at your place than he would have in nature, and it was great to have seen him living a joyfull life. Sadly he didn't make it.. Lets hope the followups will do better!
