The problem with this solution is that usually nobody is happy with diplomatic solutions. Pretyr is not happy, the village is not happy, and the soldiers are not happy. Nobody truly forgets it. The soldiers probably aren't even grateful for saving their necks, so the chances are we will hear from them again.
