Avatar: The Last Airbender has been such a widely recommended show and I couldn't wait to check it out. It's the first ever animated show that I've watched for this channel and it is a really exciting premise. The concept is great, the world building is engrossing, and the characters have so much to learn. I am excited to see how they all grow as people over the course of this season.
Episode 1: Katara and Sokka discover a 12-year-old boy frozen in an iceberg, and wonder if he's the long-lost Avatar who went missing a hundred years ago.

My guess is most people will be watching on Netflix, so I think I'll continue watching on Netflix as well so people don't have syncing issues! I'm really looking forward to seeing Legends of Korra now that I know how great this show is!

No, these are not based on any books, they've simply decided to label each season as a book instead. Possibly to add to the idea that this is some sort of legend of old since the original working title was Avatar: The Legend Of Aang. There are plenty of comics that take place AFTER the show though...

I never really resonated with A:tLA, but Legend of Korra was my jazz, so I am more looking forward to you getting to that. The only thing I am worried about is if the DvD set is a different framerate which could making syncing these shows but we can let you know how it goes once you figure out how to do the audio from the dvd

One of the reasons I love watching your reactions is that you have an extreme amount of empathy which is very similar to myself. As someone who has watched this show a dozen times (about to be a baker's dozen now!), this is the PERFECT series for you! Can't wait to binge it!

Me just learning Jax is watching AtLA: "Well, this is a match made in heaven. She's going to loooove this one." Seriously, this show is straight down main street for Jax. I predict a ton of smiles and laughter, some angry grrrs, and the occasional tear. Time to enjoy the ride with her. :)
