Hardware upgrade for 2019!

Me too. Intel having competition is a good thing for us!

Looks like a great build. I will also update my hardware next year. Until now I always had Intel CPUs, but the AMD threadripper might also be my next choice together with a Nvidia card for Iray.

Off the top of my head I think its 3-4 times, requires much more compute power. I think Nvidia already has a service like that for gaming. Not sure about rendering though.

How long does ray tracing an image normally take? Also curious whether cloud services offer any reasonable ray tracing capability, at a reasonable cost?

I've used it before. I'd like to try it in C4D. I hear the new engine is really good for Ray Tracing specifically.

One day you should get Octane to render subjects. That renderer is amazing!
