New National Park Girl - Theodore Roosevelt National Park
🕑 Added 2020-06-21 23:37:48 +0000 UTCHey everyone, Syon here! It's once again time to introduce you to a new National Park Girl! First it was Joshua Tree, then it was Redwoods, well now get ready to meet Theodore Roosevelt National Park Girl!
Please. Call her Theo. She will be quite unhappy if you call her 'Teddy.'
Theodore Roosevelt National Park is located in the badlands of North Dakota, where the rugged and intimidating rock formations meet grassy plains and herds of bison. The park gets his name from President Theodore Roosevelt, who operated and lived on several ranches in the area throughout his life. Over the years, the park has been designated in a variety of ways, from being a Recreation Area, to a Wildlife Refuge, to a National Memorial Park, then finally a National Park in 1978.
Theo herself prefers to live a quiet life, roaming the Dakota badlands with her trusty teddy bear, Moose. The simpler and more peaceful things are for her, the happier she is! Despite getting lonely sometimes, there is no greater joy for her than to watch the bison graze against the rising and setting sun.
On a more serious note, I think it's important to acknowledge (particularly during these times) Theodore Roosevelt's (the man) participation in the Brownsville Affair. An incident that occured in 1909, where Roosevelt discharged 167 black soldiers without honors for an unjust reason. Due to the nature of NPG, we are sometimes forced to acknowledge the darkness in America's past, and this is one of those times. Studio Coattails stands against bigotry and racism in all its forms, and hopes that Theo's existence can honor the beautiful National Park, and not the man.

Love Theo already but uhh watch out with that gun as a "child" π Nonetheless she looks very cute! As for the last note in the post, that's definitely what I hope everyone understands, it's about the parks and the nature in them, not the one it's named after
