So what's next?
🕑 Added 2024-04-21 02:00:15 +0000 UTCHello hello hello! Welcome to a post-Ruby world that I am very glad to be in! I wanted to share with you guys some of my afterthoughts on the Ruby animation, plus stuff that is to come this year.
RUBY
The Ruby animation was really fun to work on and finish, don't get me wrong, but I am very glad it's over and done with. It was a project that expanded way farther than I ever planned originally. The original concept for the animation was a simple loop of Ruby against the glass like you see during the later loops. But at the time of conception, I really wanted to attempt a multi-scene story. Everything else I had done previously was either a single loop, or multiple similar loops with the same pose. From that initial idea, the single loop evolved into multiple scenes and angles, like you can see in the storyboard posts I made back then.
However, later on, it got to a point where the time I was putting in was way more work than I originally planned, and yet the later sex scenes felt lacking. So I ended up doing some give and take. If your look back at the storyboard post for scene 3, you can see that the end result is not the same for a lot of parts. I added and took away different parts of the animation. The choking scene was planned to be from the side, but it turned into the arm around her neck scene. Multiple loops I made weren't even in the storyboard. I originally planned for Ruby to get thrown to the floor for the final mating press, but that and other in between animations were scrapped, and some other shortcuts were used, just to save time.
Though after all of that, I can confidently say that I don't regret the project and how it came out, I'm actually really proud of it. I do know that I can make better stuff though. I learned a LOT about animating between the beginning and end of working on it, and I'm hoping to apply that new knowledge going forward.
WHAT'S NEXT?
With all of that said and done, what's next? Well the standard request post will be up very soon for April. I'm going to try to get that done quickly so that I can post the May request EARLY, because May is going to be an animation request! I want to do some short animations like Toga and Komi, so expect content like that for awhile. As far as long projects like Ruby, I do not see myself doing something like that again anytime soon. I have a really good idea for a medium sized animation involving Cinder and Salem, but that will be something I work on later this year, I need a break from RWBY.
Thank you all for the support, like always! I can't wait to make more stuff!
