2004 is new to me, I am extremely old.
Ken mentioned the monorail in Las Vegas as being new, but I remember riding it at DEF CON 20 or 21 (several years ago now) and it seemed pretty dumpy and low tech then? Maybe he just meant that it wasn’t as old as Seattle’s?

This only just turned up on Pocket Casts. Weird! The Sheldrick Wildlife Fund is lovely. I’ve followed them (and fostered when I can afford it) for years. It’s genuinely cheering to get messages about “your” elephant.
They have sometimes taken a while to show up. This one still isn't there. Trying to wait patiently...

When I offered to coauthor a paper, I fully expected a contribution from both John and Ken that would warrant co-authorship. Also, when John said "those that can't do, teach" I laughed so hard I may have broken a rib. I'll amend that sentiment with: they also approve timesheets and purchases.
First Class and Home Rule cities are indeed something we have in Washington; our term for the latter is "Code Cities", but it's the same concept. Bluetooth would make a good episode topic. I don't know much about the king, but the wireless standard has a storied history.
