October is a very special month. The bones of winter begin to show, the veil 'tween worlds grows thin, and a certain elder feeling is in the crisp, misty air. To celebrate the turning of seasons, I'll be doing a month of weekly MAINFRAME episodes and blog-style posts revealing every aspect of my central creative endeavor for the remainder of 2019: codename RETUNE.
RETUNE is a codename for a creative return to what got me into the hobby all the way back in the mid-80's: Cyberpunk. This word gets tossed around a lot, without the elegant, rich, textured detail, research, storytelling and innovation it deserves. Here at the shield wall, we do the homework and honor the masters. Brace yourselves for a definitive journey into this space for players, readers and GM's.
RETUNE is also a look at the standard I'd like to push myself to moving forward. I'm getting back into writing (watch for FOLDED PATH posts), pushing my art skills further, and collaborating with the most creative folks I know to make lasting contributions to our hobby. Your support has been so far beyond anything I could imagine, I owe it to all of you to push myself!
Finally, I'm working with UPS's new company 'Ware2Go' to offer self-service shipping to all of you. This could be an elegant solution to shipping PHYSICAL REWARDS without a clunky living-room-full-of-boxes approach. IMMORTALS and 1 YEAR+ shield wallers especially can look forward to some treats coming soon!

Exciting! I’ve long wanted my players to suddenly (after TPK or defeated McGufffin) pull off VR goggles revealing a cyberpunk dystopia. A game in a game. I may just be following along behind you..
And I know for me what helped me through a few years of RPGing was playing game like Battletech where I got to battle as giant robots. And watching anima like Robotech.
