Active duty law enforcement and active duty military personnel are restricted from joining or being part of any militia. That doesn’t mean some won’t accept them. And the ones that do are who you should watch closest.

"Cops" are not just one gigantic entity that works in harmony toward the same goal. There are cops on the inside and on the outside. When loyalty rises to the level of corruption and breaking the law, it takes outside authorities to bring them down. Going way back, someone investigating something in a small town was gored by a bull (official autopsy report). Only someone else looked into it and found the bull had wheels, not hooves. He followed the tracks back to a barn and discovered a truck with bullhorns mounted on the hood. The truck was owned by the local sheriff. The feds had to step in and investigate. By the time they were done, they had to hold trials outside of the county because it involved nearly every town official from the mayor on down, including the local judge.

You keep saying there are cops in these organizations, then you say you expect cops to stop these organizations. How can both of these be true? I’d say individuals like this guy taking things into their own hands are the only hope we have of hurting these organizations. Expecting cops to stop groups they are in favor of or even members of is absurd.
