Story #189: Boys Will Be Boys (Part 2)

Whenever Frank blew his stack like that, it was in everyone's best interest to follow along with whatever he wanted; the man was a mean drunk, and hell, he was pretty mean sober too! But with Tatum's mother off at work, it probably meant that Frank was at least three beers deep, and he would be just itching for an excuse to take his belt off.
For this morning, his irritated outburst was directed at the three little boys bickering in their room, and his demand was for them to take their squeaky, loud voices outside.
Billy and Bubba had no issues with this; in fact, they had been getting dressed to go play outside in the first place! It was Tatum, who had simply wanted to read some comic books in peace, that was being tormented by the unjust mandate.
As had become typical, Tatum was to go play outside in the barest of essentials: dirty tank top, cheap white Pull-Up (for 'cheap white trash'), and a pair of sandals that he'd taken upon himself to insist upon, at least after surveying how much trash littered the ground of the trailer park.
Pants were still a luxury that he wasn't afforded, and laundry days were few and far between, which was equally evident by the dingy duds that his stepbrothers were sporting. It was befitting for the two other boys, since they rarely took the initiative to bathe themselves either.
Tatum still hadn't adjusted to the embarrassment of being seen in such a state, which was why he had spent so much time with Spud, so he looked downright uncomfortable as they stepped out onto the sun-soaked grass outside their trailer.
It was immediately tempting to ditch his stepbrothers and instead go to play with Spud again, since the dummy wasn't capable of judging him, but their last encounter was still a hot topic in Tatum's noggin. There was still the uncomfortable knowledge that Spud thought of them as kindred spirits, and that the older boy had no concept of personal boundaries or lines in the sand.
After being forced to sniff the large diaper, while it noisily filled, Tatum felt somewhat unsafe around him. Spud may have had mashed potatoes for brains, but his supremacy of size and strength was something that made Tatum's higher IQ a null point.
Tatum might have enjoyed the smell a lot more than he would have expected, but that didn't mean he had any intention of making that a regular occurrence for himself; he had pride, even if it was sullied, and he had some sense of self-respect still chugging along. Even if his stepbrothers never found out, the thought would still bother Tatum himself.
"Where should we take him?" Bubba suddenly piped up as they stepped away from the trailer.
Billy looked to be thinking about the question, as it was something he'd been pondering himself. He'd said that they'd show Tatum some places, but it had been more in the moment, rather than a well-thought-out plan; the gist was certainly to give some sort of trailer park tour of humiliation, but the details felt murky.
The two trashy boys were impulsive, sure, but even they knew there was a line that had to be respected. Not for the sake of Tatum himself, but because their stepmother wouldn't be happy to hear that anything bad had happened to her sweet potato pie. That meant dragging Tatum to the cusp without going over the edge.
"Let's start by going to see what the other kids are up to. Tator has been here for weeks, but I bet he's barely even met anyone yet! Except for his potato pal, I mean."
It was true. It had started out that Tatum was too shy and too pretentious to want to get to know the trailer park kids, but it'd swiftly evolved to a matter of embarrassment, whenever Frank had taken away his pants privileges.
Tatum didn't want to be typecast as a retard like Spud was, and he figured that the sight of his disposable briefs would make that awfully hard. He was a little too old to simply be delayed in pottytraining, so the assumption would surely go to his cognitive abilities.
As shy as he'd been, it felt impossible that other kids didn't already know about his Pull-Ups though. Spud's trailer wasn't immediately next to his own, so he still had to scurry back and forth from there with his padded bottom on display.
The only hope on that front was that it was assumed to be underwear that he was wearing, which wouldn't come across as all that peculiar in a dump like this, where several boys were shameless enough to traipse around in their dingy briefs. The training pants at least somewhat resembled normal underwear at a distance, but getting much closer, and it was obvious what they really were.
"I-I don't want to..." Tatum quietly mewled, thinking that he'd get a say in the matter.
"Yeah, so? That's where we're goin' and you're comin' with us." Billy replied as he kept his hand firmly locked with Tatum's own.
"Yup! We're gonna show off our dummy brudder!" Bubba giggled in amusement, bringing up the rear.
There was little point in arguing, especially whenever the objective was punitive in nature; the cruel boys weren't looking to make certain of Tatum's comfort here, and in fact it was the opposite, as they were looking to 'humble' him after all the big talk he'd been spewing in their bedroom. Even though it had been in 'self-defense' of his ego, the two boys saw it as unacceptable to be mocked by someone they had deemed as a 'retard'.
Thus Tatum was marched down the way, past the other trailers in the park, and toward a central location where most of the kids usually met to play. The trailer park was somewhat insular in nature, which not only kept the pool of kids small, but also kept opinions from being very diverse; it meant that in all likelihood, that Tatum wouldn't be accepted as a peer, just as the dice had fallen in his relationship with his stepbrothers.
A group of kids, from tots to early teens, started to appear in the near distance; the trailer park was on the edge of a junkyard, and that was where the children typically played, as if it was a playground. As Tatum was brought closer, some of the kids started to look over at him, seemingly confused that he was being dragged along by Billy.
One boy, clad in tattered denim shorts and a thuggish 'Looney Tunes' shirt from goodwill, squinted his eyes at the approaching trio. "Hey Billy! Is that your stepbrother?"
Another child, a girl with pigtails and a wad of bubblegum in her mouth, crossed her arms. "Ain't he the one from that rich kid neighborhood?"
Surprisingly, it seemed that the children of the trailer park hadn't been fully educated on everything about Tatum's current status. As it was, Billy had talked about where Tatum came from and had briefly mentioned his addition to their family, but he hadn't been blabbing about what he thought of the boy's intelligence or the daily pantspooping.
It wasn't a matter of politeness though, and the same could be said for Bubba's shocking sense of restraint; the brothers didn't care about sparing Tatum's dignity, but they did care about both the potential embarrassment of having a 'retarded' stepbrother and the possible guilt by association.
Billy had been pondering on it a lot in the last couple of weeks, and he'd been the one to suggest to Bubba that they don't say anything, but the conclusion hadn't been reached until this very morning. It had become obvious, especially with school approaching, that he couldn't simply hide this embarrassing new branch of his family tree, and that it would be most practical to go ahead and rip the bandage off.
If Billy himself was the one to lead the mockery of the dummy, then he figured that he and Bubba would be spared from any connected shame that came with Tatum's padded presence.
"Yup, this here is Tator. His mama married our daddy, and they moved in with us a few weeks ago." Billy nodded as they came to a stop at the edge of the junkyard.
"Oh, he's that underwear kid! I was wonderin' who that was." Another kid chirped.
"I think I've seen him goin' to see Spud...I thought he might be Spud's cousin or something!"
"I thought he was s'pposta be all fancy, but he don't look that way to me."
Tatum was effectively hiding himself behind Billy, his cheeks pink and his eyes staring down at his shoes. Even in the unlikely event that he was accepted by these kids, he wouldn't be comfortable toddling around them in the padded underwear that he'd been condemned to.
Billy held up his free hand to shush the group of children and their comments, "We've been workin' to knock that fancy stuff out of him since he got here; that's why we waited to bring him here. Din't wanna bring some suburb sissy to the junkyard!"
Bubba giggled, "He's still a wussy! But I guess he's not as bad as he was when he got here."
Billy looked over his shoulder at Tatum, "Well, go ahead and introduce yourself. Don't you got no manners or nothin?"
There was a lot of irony in that gramatically challenged statement, but it was far from Tatum's place to point that out, especially considering that he was among people who seemed to have a good deal of respect for his ignorant stepbrothers. The half-naked blond quietly took in a deep breath and meekly nodded his head.
"...Hello, I'm Tatum. I just moved here a little while back, and, ummm..."
He didn't get a chance to finish his statement, before the same boy in the denim shorts decided to interrupt him: "Why are you so quiet? And why are you hidin' behind Billy?"
A girl giggled, "Prolly cuz' he's just in his underpants!"
"If he was embarrassed about that, then he'd just wear pants!" The boy argued with the girl.
Billy smiled and let go of Tatum's hand. Without any warning, he stepped out of the way, so that Tatum couldn't simply hide behind him like a scared little mouse. "Ya gotta speak up, Tator. You can talk normal, can't you?"
Tatum felt exposed, just standing there in the open with nothing but a stained tank top and a thankfully fresh pair of his cheap Pull-Ups. "Umm...I-I'm sorry, I get nervous whenever I meet new people..."
He'd hoped it would at least take a few moments before anyone noticed that his 'underwear' wasn't really underwear, but it was simply too obvious to ignore. The girl squinted her eyes and then immediately widened them afterwards, "Oh my gosh! Those aren't underpants! Look at 'em!"
The cheap, generic pull-ups had no fly, were clearly bulky, and had the thin sides. The only part that made them even appear to be briefs was their white color and the generally similar shape, but the way they cut on him was undeniably not underwear. He might have gotten away with it from a distance up until now, but up close, and there was no hope of hiding it.
"That's a flippin' diaper! Just like Spud!"
That made Tatum cringe and he rapidly began to shake his head in denial of the accusation. "N-no! It isn't a diaper!"
He was right on a technical level, but the distinction was lost on these bumpkins; what real difference to them was there between a Pull-Up and a diaper? Both existed to catch poopies, and neither were a dignified choice of undergarments for a boy his age; he may as well have declared that a sippy cup wasn't a bottle.
"Yeah, it is! He's just like a big, stupid baby!"
Tatum felt his face get hot, from his cheeks to his ears, as the other kids began to laugh and point at what was secured around his waist. This was the exact reason he'd been hanging out with Spud this entire time!
Billy grinned, "Yeah, our daddy says that Tator is a dumb ol' retard."
"With poo for brains!" Bubba added with a childish giggle.
Billy nodded, "Right! It ain't his fault he's so darn stupid; just like Spud."
Tatum felt like his ego was in a nosedive and his mind was fluttering with all the anxieties that this public humiliation was bringing him. His tummy began to gurgle and bubble, but he hardly recognized the feeling, since his brain was buzzing with far stronger feelings; all he wanted to do was to defend his own honor, to prove his stepbrothers wrong, but that wasn't what he was about to do.
"I-I'm not retarded! S-stop saying that!" He fussed angrily, his freckled face getting as red as a tomato.
A juicy fart suddenly reverberated powerfully in the back of his cheap trainers, which he was far too flustered to even notice, and that just made the group of kids laugh even harder. Billy smirked and folded his arms, as if he had just lit the fuse and now was simply waiting for the big boom.
By the time that Tatum recognized what was happening, it was far too late to stop it. His clenched fists had first been a symbol of his fury, but they had the subtle shift of becoming representative of something much different. He glared and gritted his teeth at his stepbrother, but then his knees began to bend a little bit and his rump jutted out ever so slightly.
There was a gross, muffled crackling sound that started to emanate from the back of his padding; it was the distinct soundtrack of his own shameful self-defecation. A firm, knobby stool was emerging and in its gassy descent it was pushing the fairly thin fabric of the pull-up outward to accommodate its impressive size.
"Ewwww! He's goin' dookie on himself!"
"Look at his face! He's making a poopie face!"
"Guess he really is a dumb diaper retard, jus' like Billy said."
Tatum finally realized what he was doing, but it was far too late to turn back at that point; the log had already pushed halfway past his buttcheeks and was cramming itself into the garment that he had adamantly refused to call a diaper; seemed like a moot argument now, since he was clearly using it exactly like a toddler would use a diaper. He was unable to make any further verbal arguments in this state, his body completely devoted to the cause currently being undertaken, not that anything he would say would make a difference.
"Yeah, he poops his pants all the time. His mama says its because of his autism or whatever, but that just means because he's stupid." Billy remarked with a sharky grin.
Beyond the point of no return, and with the discomfort of having a steamer that was only halfway deposited, the boy had no choice but to quietly grunt and actively push to finish the job. The back of his cheap Pull-Up continued to expand, showing all too clearly the lumpy shape of the solid he was releasing, and then there was another sloppy fart that blasted out of him.
The second half of the load came out much quicker and was a lot less firm; it made wet plopping noises in his seat, and he could feel the sticky load smearing across his backside as the softer poop oozed into his distended seat. He'd been pushing so hard to get the rest out, that he even had a dribble of drool running down his chin, which did nothing to dissuade the arguments against his intellect.
By the time he finished, which only took under a minute from start to end, his disposable briefs had a notable sag in back from the heft of his fresh pantload. There were hints of brown beginning to stain near the top of the backside, wherever the rectangular panel of padding didn't reach and where the garment was at its thinnest.
"So, you gotta take him back home to get his butt wiped?" One kid asked Billy, who shook his head and shrugged.
"Nah, he's fine. He likes sittin' around in his own poop. Besides, our daddy doesn't wanna change no stinky retard pants, so Tator is gonna be dirty until his mama gets off work. He's used to it."
The worst part was that Billy wasn't even completely wrong on any of those counts. Frank refused to clean him up (or even allow him to do so himself), his mommy would indeed be the one to bring his bottom back to a dignified state, and worst of all? Tatum *did* kind of like the sensation of a loaded seat.
Whether or not he liked it, Tatum had to face the facts of what he was becoming by living here: a stinky trailer park retard.
