Six months in this sorry state. It had been half of an entire year, since the fateful day that it had happened, where Erin had been forced to stuff his brilliance into a wholly insufficient container, while watching his old life go up in smoke.
Six months of poopy diapers, slobber, and a mistaken identity.
Six months of being Lenny.
Erin had nearly lost his sense of self in that time; each passing month had made the thought of his former life all the more faint. He couldn't even take a peek at what his old life was supposed to look like, because Lenny had corrupted every aspect of it. Lenny's reckless hedonism had made Erin look like the dumber of the two brothers, which was saying quite a lot.
Erin had spent a lot of time being angry in those months; he'd cursed his brother's name and wished ill fates upon him. It was a fully understandable position to hold, at least at first, since Lenny had taken everything away from him, but that unbridled fury had come to subside. The magma had cooled.
Because for as much as he'd hated every moment of this reality that had been foisted upon him, it had also helped him to better understand the struggles that Lenny had been forced to deal with since infancy. Erin now had firsthand experience with living in this state of perpetual degradation; experience with envy for greater intellect.
There was no respect from others, no autonomy, no dignity. Lenny obviously didn't have the same sense of shame that Erin did, but the boy must at least have a sense of frustration, with how little self-determination that he commanded.
Erin could only imagine that the rotten cherry on top was having a genius for a brother. Being so close in age, yet so far apart in developmental milestones; every mental inadequacy being compared to someone that was as above average as Lenny was below average.
And it wasn't as if Erin had been very compassionate about those differences. Erin had never stopped treating Lenny like an annoying toddler, or like a hapless idiot; Erin had used his brother for simple labor and scolded, mocked, or rebuked him for every diaper he took a giant crap in.
It was oddly enlightening, which was ironic in this form, to come to terms with the fact that he'd been a bully; he'd been a bad big brother. Whenever that revelation had taken hold in earnest, that was when he'd stopped being so angry all the time. The cooler head had also made it easier for him to focus on fixing the machine, which itself had been a grueling effort.
This new perspective had helped Erin frame his brother's motivations with a more sympathetic eye. He'd already known that Lenny had expected it to make him smarter, and jealousy was an obvious emotion to peg for what drove him to do it, but there were deeper answers under the surface.
Erin posed that Lenny's motivation had not just been envy, but resentment and a longing to be respected on the most basal of levels. Whenever Lenny had discovered that a different brain wasn't a cheat code for intelligence, he had veered into a different lane to traverse; perhaps there was malice in the self-destruction that came next, but Erin deduced that Lenny had leaned into tanking Erin's life for reasons of wanting solidarity, and to make it unappealing to try to return to.
Lenny didn't want to be the 'retarded brother' to the boy genius; Lenny didn't want to be so very lesser than his brother that the two would never see eye-to-eye. Lenny would rather that the two of them be damned to dirty diapers together, rather than either of them rising far above the other.
Erin could understand it, but he obviously couldn't allow it. Even with a newfound respect for the tribulations that Lenny's life comprised of, he couldn't simply let things continue on in the way that they were going; Lenny might be happy like this, but Erin was positively miserable.
The poopy diapers weren't that bad, or at least Erin's mind had succumbed to the brain housing his conciousness and thus he'd grown to make peace with the feeling, but remaining this 'slow' was purely out of the question. While Lenny had been comfortable with a brain this unrefined, Erin had felt mentally cramped, and there were real concerns that he was burning the insufficient container out.
Trying to keep a mind as complex as Erin's was, in a vessel that couldn't even contain an IQ that was a quarter as large, was an extremely dangerous game. Either his wit or the brain would eventually give out, and then he'd be stuck in an even worse position than he was now.
Likewise, the brain that Lenny was squatting in, wasn't meant for such a meager intellect; it too would degrade from lack of use, though that wouldn't do much to effect Lenny himself.
So Erin was conflicted. He knew he had to fix things, but he also felt bad about his brother's situation. He pondered if there was a way he could improve Lenny's physical capacity for intelligence, so that the boy at least had some semblance of normalcy to hold onto.
Theoretically, it seemed plausible, but it was hard to really tell without being able to think hard about it. He needed his own mental acuity back, if he were to formulate a solution for Lenny's poor condition.
And that was where the real rub was: how was he supposed to get Lenny to go along with switching back in the first place?
The machine had been fixed. He'd spent countless hours and overloaded his brain to the point of mentally retarded blowouts in his diapers, over and over again, but the work was now finished. He just needed to find a way to convince Lenny to put on the helmet and the rest would be cake.
He wasn't sure his brother could be reasoned with, but he was fairly certain that his brother could be tricked, as cruel as that seemed. Apologies and reparations could come after, but he'd have to be the 'mean brother', at least one final time.
He'd considered approaching the subject from the one angle that Lenny seemed to understand more than anything, which was to offer him the one thing he missed about his old body; the one thing that Erin had constantly had to deal with over the last six months.
Lenny's body was an absolute fudge factory.
Lenny had lamented as much, that Erin's body didn't produce 'poopies' at quite the size or rate that Lenny wanted to stuff his diapers with. The boy still soiled himself constantly, but the loads paled in comparison to the sheer diaper destruction that Erin had been doing.
It was absurd to Erin, for such a thing to hold such immense importance to anyone, but he'd slowly been able to grok it; stuck in Lenny's body, with his oddly wired brain, Erin had come to acknowledge how immensely pleasing it was, at the physical level especially, to make stool in his diaper. The same act didn't carry nearly the same gravity in Erin's original body.
So the plan he had concocted was to tell Lenny that he'd adjusted the invention to instead transfer lone attributes, with the bait of giving Lenny back his prodigious pantspooping power back.
But to effectively do that, he needed to first remind Lenny of the thing that he'd lost; Erin would need to showcase the extreme messing that Lenny could no longer do. He would need to tantalize the tard with massive pantloads that made Lenny long for what he was once capable of, and that would require some extra effort.
With the machine complete, Erin redirected his efforts toward concocting a homemade laxative that would do the trick; the potent laxative, with the addition of some dense fiber-loading, would ensure that Erin became every bit the poo-machine that Lenny envied.
It was just the bait needed for a catch of this caliber, and Erin wasted no time in beginning this regiment. He was setting up all the dominos, with the ardent belief that this was his final hurrah; if he spent much longer as Lenny, then something was going to give, so this was almost undoubtedly his final chance to square things.
After fueling the tank, he'd meander off to the backyard, where his brother was entertaining himself by playing in the dirt. It was an unnerving sight, to watch his own body and see how far Lenny had allowed it to degrade over these last six months. The two brothers had never looked so similar, and not just because of their matching diapers.
To be fair, Erin hadn't been the best stewardess of Lenny's body either; there had been no physical changes, but he'd definitely put some wear and tear on these neurons. Lenny's brain wasn't built for such complex computing, so his brother might find himself just a tad slower than before, whenever he did return.
Lenny was wearing a romper, which was of course marred with the dirt that he was playing in, and the backside looked fairly unsoiled, which was a rare sight. He looked up from his simplistic play and smiled.
"Hiya bro!" He chirped, ignorant to what was going through Erin's thoughts.
Lenny hadn't applied himself much over the last six months, even with this golden opportunity for advancement, but his verbal skills had improved regardless. His vocabulary had expanded, his diction had improved, and he hadn't lisped in quite some time. He'd even gotten faster at talking and could hold some semblance of a conversation, which was evidence that the capacity for improvement was there.
It made it even more cruel to Erin that he would have to stifle that progress, but he had to remind himself it was for the greater good. He couldn't help Lenny improve if he himself was permanently a mudbutt retard.
"Hi. Pway in duh dirt?" Erin replied, already beginning to feel a bubbling in his gut.
"Uh-huh! I saw some worms. They were all wiggly!"
Erin smiled weakly, drool seeping from the corner of his lips. The pressure below was rapidly building, so it was time to put his plan into motion. "Cool."
He lifted his knee and gave the smallest of pushes, being immediately rewarded by a gurgling fart in his oversized Huggies; it sputtered hard and he twisted his face as the first large turd jettisoned itself into his seat with a squishy plop. He usually wasn't so candid with soiling himself, but it would take candor to trick his brother into cooperation.
"Nnghh...Dat a big poopie...!" He groaned, already grunting and involuntarily starting to let another log crackle on out.
Lenny looked up, seeming surprised that Erin was so plainly pooing himself, whenever he had been so meek about it up until this point. He stared at the back of Erin's diaper, which was taped around a rump he had once called his own. The diaper was already puffing out with the smouldering masses he'd let unfurl, and with the laxative he'd concocted, it would only be the beginning.
"That *is* big..." Lenny mumbled, sounding a little envious at the sight.
Erin was hardly finished though; this was merely dangling the worm, and it would take a little more to make Lenny take the bait. He gave a bigger push and could immediately feel a much larger steamer beginning to crown:
"Ughhh...B-big poo-poo...C-comin' out...!" Erin moaned, his physical reaction genuine, as his body forced itself into a degrading squatting position. Farts began to pepper his seat, as if a symphonic ritual to bring forth something of tremendous size.
Lenny was captivated by the act, his eyes bulging as much as Erin's diaper; the turd descending was a leviathan forged of poo, and as Erin pushed it out, he was almost afraid that he'd gone too far. The strain was immense and it made his cheeks become a bright red, and he felt his mind buzzing from the sheer exertion of the load; the dense fiber intake he'd calculated was doing its job, but Erin almost feared that such a calculation might have been off, and that he may be risking a total mental implosion with how hard he was having to push to get it out.
It was a frightening prospect, but a very real one; too much exertion, too much strain, and he could easily tardify himself for real. As the solid python continued to inch itself out, with slobbery grunts from the boy pushing, the diaper continued to bulge grotesquely.
"Nnnnnghhh....T-Too much p-poo!" Erin bemoaned, genuinely thinking as such, though Lenny saw no issue.
For Lenny, this was a blunt display of the thing he missed most. Lenny longed for making such lengthy loads in his pants, and while Erin's body had been adapted over these last six months to be similar, there was still a major gap in ability.
"Wow! That's huge!" Lenny quipped, crawling closer to get a better view of the distended seat.
Erin had to get on his hands and knees, with his padded bottom upturned, as to keep the behemoth continuing. His diaper was pulling away from his skin with how much it was being tented in back, from the unnatural girth of the steamer forged in subterfuge. He farted more loudly, snot and drool freely trailing down his reddened face, and he had to squint his eyes completely shut.
As his face went from red to purple, Erin finally got respite from the pole's exit, as it suddenly surged several inches and began to break apart upon the bulwark of the diaper's wall. What came next was a rapid series of explosions, each one more disgusting than the last, where much softer stool began to blast into the garment with reckless abandon.
Whenever the fecal fireworks had erupted for the last time, Erin collapsed into the dirt on his tummy, with his lumpy handiwork raised in the air for Lenny to ogle. There were some lingering toots, weak yet juicy, but Erin was finished loading his pants, and the result had been ghastly. Lenny was left slack jawed, staring at the many browning bulges that adorned the topography of the garment.
"T-that was tha' biggest poopie ever!" He praised, a finger lazily in his mouth, his envy on as stark of display as Lenny's smelly seat.
"Y-yeah...p-pretty big..." Erin panted in exhaustion.
"I miss makin' poopies like that..."
Lenny had taken the bait.
What came next was what Erin had been yearning for over the last six months; after recuperating from his retarded display, he explained that he'd been working on the machine that had started all this, and while it couldn't switch minds any longer, it could switch specific traits.
That was a lie, but it was exactly what Lenny had wanted to hear. Lenny missed the 'skill' that brought him the most joy, and Erin was offering to 'unload' it, since he clearly didn't appreciate it as much. Barely able to waddle to the garage in his turd-stuffed garment, he led Lenny back to where this had all started.
Erin had designed the machine to only work one more time, and then it would internally self-destruct. He didn't want to take any chances that Lenny could reverse the reversal.
With the silly helmets on, and with Erin promising himself that he'd take what he had learned to heart, he flipped the switch and smiled. Just as easily as their minds had been switched before, they once again were swapped, but this time to their rightful bodies.
The machine whirred to a stop, it letting out some clunks as it shut itself down for the last time; Erin had no plans to build it again for a third time, so this would be the final switch made on it.
Lenny didn't realize what had happened at first; before understanding that he was back in his original body, he thought that the lie he'd been told had been fruitful, since he was sitting in such a massive pile of excrement. It wasn't until Erin stumbled to his feet and Lenny saw him, that he realized that he'd been tricked.
"N-no faiw!" The smelly boy whined, though his complaint quickly turned soft as he started to fidget his rump against his own muck.
"Sorry that I lied to you, Lenny. But didn't you say you missed being so messy?" Erin sounded sincere, no longer trying to tease or tear down his little brother.
Lenny still looked a little fussy, until a juicy fart came from the back of Erin's diaper, and the boy genius suddenly had to bend his knees to let a mushy steamer surge into his crinkly seat. It'd become a familiar feeling over the last six months, so much so, that he hardly even gave it recognition as it happened.
"Mmph..! Looks like we'll still be matching for a while...Until I can pottytrain my body again..." Erin chuckled, reaching his hand over to help his brother up.
Lenny smiled and giggled, letting Erin help him to his feet. "Tinky brudders!"
"Hehe, yeah, I guess we are..."
Erin didn't mind much, and in fact, he made a personal promise to himself that he'd stay in diapers out of solidarity, at least until he could help his little brother get smarter. He wanted Lenny to feel counted, because he know knew what it was like to walk a mile in his sagging diapers.
"Come on, Lenny. Let's go play for a bit."
It'd be a long road back to normalcy, but Erin wasn't in any hurry.
