Story #157: Troubled Sleep
(Chapter 18 to 'From Cool to Drool')

Ever since coming back from the hospital, Jaydyn had been plagued by a reoccurring nightmare. It was like a vision of a reality that might have been, of a worse future he had narrowly avoided at the skate park that fateful day. There was no denying how rough things had been for the addled boy, but the doctors had called him very lucky for not ending up with even less.
In an odd way, maybe it was like a coping mechanism; in order to better accept the position he was left in, his mind was trying to show him how much worse the situation could have been. A way of scaring him into appreciating the little things he could be thankful for.
The other reality, the other Jaydyn, was a dreadful sight to see. He'd been *that* Jaydyn many nights now, and perhaps some of that also came from the insecurities of how he was now treated. In some ways, he already felt like that twisted version of himself.
In these nightmares, it was like he was aware that things were wrong, but he was incapable of changing the script. Everyone else in the dream treated him like he was at the lowest intellectual echelon, and Jaydyn was incapable of proving them wrong, because they were right.
He hadn't told anyone of these nocturnal terrors that he'd endured. The only outward evidence being his meekness the following day and a high chance of suffering an overnight blowout in his Abenas, which was otherwise an oddity.
There was no common denominator on what nights these visions would haunt him. Good day or bad day, there was always a chance.
*Off in another world, a world of dreams...*
"I love you, you love me, we're a happy family..."
Jaydyn's eyes and what constituted now as thoughts were totally transfixed on the purple dinosaur that sung from inside the box. Drool and snot hung lamely from his lips and nostrils respectively, and his eyes looked completely glazed over and devoid of anything that could have been mistaken for wit.
His feet didn't quite touch the ground, but that didn't stop him from trying to stupidly dance along and babble to the song that Barney was singing for him. His hands were gripped around the cords that helped to suspend him off the floor and he was left gently bouncing inside something that looked more fitting of an infant than a preteen.
His bemused babbling, which was a mindlessly drooly affair, had led to his pacifier falling to the ground below him, as it hadn't been put on a leash to his onesie.
"Hey, Jay-Jay? We have a guest." Came the snide voice of his younger brother.
Jaydyn knew he should have been curious, but he was far too mystified by the infantile programming that he spent so much of the day ingesting. He didn't turn his head or acknowledge his brother's voice at all.
"Oh my gosh, is that really him? I didn't know it was *that* bad." Another familiar voice, a girl that sounded both shocked and repulsed by the sight in front of her.
"Yeah, he's basically so dumb that he's a baby now. Doctor said there wasn't really anything left up there, which is probably why he likes Barney and all those other baby shows so much." Logan explained, not sounding all that torn up about what had happened to the older boy.
"A baby? Like, in just his interests...? Or, umm..."
Jaydyn wasn't sure exactly what was being discussed, and he didn't care much either. As far as he was concerned, the only important matter was the one on the television that the bouncer was set up in front of. Seemingly without noticing, he ripped a juicy fart into his diaper like the sputtering of a lawnmower.
"Oh, ewww..." The girl grimaced.
"Yeah, he does a whole lot of that. Here, why don't you come say hello?"
Logan walked in front of the television and led over a pretty girl that Jaydyn knew he recognized. It took a moment for the face to become clear to him, and even then, he couldn't recollect a name for her. What he did recognize was that it was his 'girlfriend' from school, from before any of this had happened. When he'd been the coolest kid in their class, and she had been the most popular girl, but that was a different time.
"He looks...A lot different." The girl reeled, sounding as if she just barely avoided saying something much more cruel.
"Yeah, he's gotten kinda chunky since he mostly just sits around and watches his baby shows, while eating and drinking from his bottles. Just soft stuff, like baby food, since he doesn't have teeth anymore. Probably why he drools so much too..."
Logan was talking about him like he was a lab specimen in a cage; like he had no true awareness of his surroundings. The more Jaydyn heard, the more angry he became, but he couldn't seem to summon that fury outward. He fidgeted and squirmed in the bouncer, blowing little spit bubbles as his tongue uselessly tried to function properly.
"So he just sits in that baby chair? Um, what if he needs to..."
"Yabba-da! Low-gunn no tuh rew!" Jaydyn suddenly exclaimed, his retort both late and incomprehensible to the other two kids who stood in front of him.
Logan chuckled and cooed at his brother, "That's right, Jay-Jay! I knew you'd like to see a familiar face, after getting stuck in that icky hospital all Summer. Though I guess this isn't the best kind of visit, is it? I hope you don't mind, but your old girlfriend is dumping you and getting with someone who can actually still skate."
Logan glanced over at the girl and they started to kiss right in front of Jaydyn. The blond gripped the cords of his bouncer more tightly and wildly kicked his legs for a brief moment, before screwing up his face and blowing the most squishy fart imaginable into his diaper.
"**PoOOoOoOO-POOOOO!**" He loudly shouted as his face grew red and the backside of the bouncer began to rapidly bulge out with a sick crackling.
His little brother immediately began to laugh at Jaydyn as he helplessly pushed a mountain of mush into the back of his diaper, while simultaneously soaking the front.
"Yuck! What kind of girl would want *that*?: Logan mocked, right before pulling down hard on the bouncer to make Jaydyn start squishing around in his fresh droppings.
"Ugh, not me. I like boys who don't crap their pants like a retard." The girl grimaced.
"Or diapers, in little Jay-Jay's case."
During this part of the nightmare, Jaydyn had begun to mimic the actions he was enmeshed in. While laying on his tummy in bed, he'd started to fart hard in his Abena and deposited the first of many smelly steamers into the incontinence garment.
It had been a reflection of his subconscious fears, which were founded in evidence, that Logan was trying to pick up the pieces of Jaydyn's shattered life to weld to his own. It also reflected the insecurities he felt about seeing his unofficial 'girlfriend' again, since he'd been completely ducking her so far this semester.
The dream shifted, as if completely changing scenes, and Jaydyn was suddenly standing in his room. At least, it was what he felt must be his room, except that it'd come to much more resemble a nursery for a very large infant.
There was a big crib, and a changing table, and the colors were all very bright and childish. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and thought he looked normal for a moment, but then the image rippled and became distorted.
What was instead looking back at him was a version of him that had lost everything dignified about him. Atop his head was a red foam safety helmet, his eyes were completely unfocused, drool poured onto a bib from a toothless maw that had a dumbstruck tongue, his chubby tummy had packed on the pounds and hung out a little over the waistband of an Abena that looked at least three times as thick as anything he'd ever worn.
That immensely bulky diaper also looked stained from use, which was unsurprising, but acted as a sloppy little bow on top of his whole disheveled appearance. The dull yellowing of urine across the front, and muddy brown discoloration around the leg-gathers. Even if the mirror hadn't told him that, he could feel there was mush smothering his bottom, and the whole room reeked of poop.
The overflowing diaper pail in the corner, which was was significantly larger than the one he was used to, was undoubtedly contributing to that pervasive stench in his nostrils.
This wasn't him! ...Was it?
The next thing he knew, he was being carried to the kitchen, as if he'd just skipped a full scene of his mother coming into the room to get him. The woman was cooing at him like he was a big baby, and he was sucking on his fingers.
She put him into an oversized highchair and pulled the tray in front of him. That mucky feeling on his butt had disappeared and he realized she must have changed him, which would also account for the sweet smell of talcum that'd replaced the foul fumes of his droppings.
"Time for some nummy breakfast!" She chirped as she brought over a large baby bottle of milk and a bowl of some kind of mush that looked like baby food.
He wasn't given any silverware, but instead was given a cumbersome rubber bib that had a catcher on the bottom. It became obvious that he was supposed to use his hands to feed himself, due to a total lack of coordination and a perceived loss of technical knowledge. He didn't want to lower himself to such savagery, but the hunger he felt was too powerful.
He stuffed handful after handful of the mushy paste into his mouth; just mindlessly consuming. It was no wonder he'd become overweight, when his appetite was so completely ravenous.
"So, Jaydyn is coming back to school with me?" Logan suddenly appeared at the opposite end of the table.
"That's right, sweetie. He's going to be in a different classroom though, for other special boys like him..."
"You mean 'Special Ed'?" Logan sounded like he was barely suppressing a snicker.
The very thought, it filled Jaydyn with a deep existential dread. He wasn't intellectually disabled! He didn't belong in a class that was full of disgusting **retards!**
Before he was able to speak up, or make whatever lame attempt at speaking that he was capable of, his belly suddenly became a warzone of cramping. Explosive flatulence began to repeatedly break and spew upon the bulky bulwark of the diaper he was wearing, and the mouthful of baby food he had was starting to dribble down his chin with his drool.
"Uh-oh! I think Jay-Jay has to make a big breakfast boom-boom!" Logan teased with a sing-song voice.
Crapping his pants at the kitchen table during meals was not at all uncommon for Jaydyn these days, so the event itself was not a total fabrication of his nightmare; pooing himself in a highchair on the other hand, that was a genuine novelty that was bringing him a tremendous amount of shame.
Jaydyn could feel the warm, sticky poop spreading across his flabby buttcheeks as it piled up in his Abena like hot soft-serve. It kept coming, like someone had left the lever down and walked away. The look on the boy's face was of dimwitted pleasure, like making poopies was his only real purpose. The smell that rose was intoxicating and it dulled his mind completely.
"Mmmpphhh...! J-Jay-Jay...Lub' POOBIES!"
Back in the real world, in his bed, Jaydyn had again been loudly splattering the back of his diaper with bubbling filth, while drooling all over the thumb in his mouth. The formerly white garment began to become discolored with splotches of brown.
The dreamscape once again shifted, and the nightmare skipped ahead like a scratched CD in a Walkman. Jaydyn was sitting in an oversized carseat, like one that a baby would be put in, and he'd been dressed in an infantile romper. He was sucking on a pacifier again and he could see the school outside the car's window.
Things skipped again, not that he really noticed the lapse, and he was being led down the hallway. He recognized it was Angela who was escorting him, except instead of by the hand, she was holding the end of a leash that attached to a harness he was wearing.
"Maybe if you had been wearing a helmet at the skate park, then you wouldn't be wearing one everywhere else now." She taunted, referring to the 'retard helmet' he'd been made to wear.
"Mister 'too cool for rules' gets to be a big, dumb diaper boy now. Must be the universe punishing you." She added.
Jaydyn wasn't dumb! He might look the part of a moron, but he knew that wasn't true for what was really inside! The boy stopped and got red in the face.
"Nah d-dumbb...Me...mmphh.." He had started to argue with her, but stopping in his tracks looked a lot like something else.
"Are you going number two on yourself? Can't you wait until we get to class?"
He wasn't pooping! He was trying to defend his own honor! What an insult to be immediately accused of--
**CRACKLE... PLOP!**
A massive solid steamer suddenly pushed past his buttcheeks and crashed into the back of his diaper without any fanfare or warning. It was so tremendously large and firm that it pushed out a huge knobby bulge in his seat, giving his taut romper the appearance of smuggling a large cucumber.
Angela felt the lump and clicked her tongue, "Looks like the teacher has her work cut out for her. You'll have to haul it for a while though, they don't waste diapers in the special class."
Time warped forward again and Jaydyn was in a very colorful classroom. One that looked more fitting for a daycare than an elementary school. There were babyish toys and stuffed animals all over the floor, and he was surrounded by a wide range of kids from different grade levels. Everyone was diapered to some degree, but none seemed quite as empty-headed as Jaydyn.
Was he the dumbest kid in the retard room? In a group of idiotic pantspoopers, was he the one to single out as being the worst? It was hard to explain how he knew it to be true, but it was just something he found to be innate.
Walking seemed too hard now, like he'd used up all that strength to just get down here, and now he had to crawl on his hands and knees. He could still feel the heavy weight of the turd in his diaper too, making Angela's statement ring true of the scarcity of diaper changes.
The room was like a never-ending poop factory. Each boy kept farting and filling their diaper with excrement, but it was like a soothing lullaby to the moronic crawler. The smell in the air was comforting.
"I can't believe I used to think you were cool."
Jaydyn looked up and saw that Luke was standing in front of him, as if he'd just manifested into the classroom. He has on a badge that said something, but Jaydyn wasn't smart enough to read it.
"I wonder if a sinking ship can raise another one up? You becoming all gross and stupid should make me look better by comparison!" He laughed.
"Me no stoopid! Me cool!" Jaydyn argued, slobbering and lisping in the process.
"That's not what this file says. It says here that you're the dumbest kid in the school. It says that you can't go five minutes without crapping in your pants!" Luke said, now holding a clipboard.
Where had Luke gotten that? Was that really his student file?
"Don't know your letters anymore, or your numbers. Don't know your shapes, don't know what a toilet even is, let alone how to operate one. Too stupid to use a spoon or a fork or a cup; a lot of drooling, and booger-eating..."
Jaydyn's face got red, "Nooo! Dat not twue!"
Luke didn't stop, "Can only follow the most basic instructions, has a vocabulary of less than five hundred words, with a large percentage being specifically about your own poopy diapers. Speaking of poopy diapers, it says here that you have the 'ultra retard' kind on; it also says that you like to sniff dirty diapers, and to not trust you around the diaper pail."
How vile! How disgusting! How... tantalizing?
Appearing from seemingly out of nowhere, one of his classmates was suddenly right in front of him, with his diapered butt right near Jaydyn's face. The other boy bent his knees and lowered the back of his diaper toward Jaydyn's nose; it looked like the 'junior Abenas' that he wore in the real world.
There was a wet crackling sound and the back of the diaper slowly began to tent out with a fat log. Jaydyn didn't know why, but he couldn't resist burying his nose right into the garment as it got loaded. The toxic payload was intoxicating and he kept taking bigger and stronger sniffs of the fumes being created, all while hearing Luke laugh at him.
Jaydyn began to push out another BM of his own, as if inspired by the handiwork of the boy he was snoofing.
"Also says not to trust you with your own dirty diaper, that you might get into it and make a big mess. You're so stupid now, that they had to give you a special classification! Says here that you're a 'Pootard', and that's the worst of the worst. You make these other diaper-dooking retards look like math club geniuses!"
Was that true? It sounded true, especially since Jaydyn wasn't exactly beating the allegations here.
"Hehe...Yeah! You make me look like a smarty-pants! Even when m'making P-POO BROWNIES!"
There a wet rumbling and the diaper that Jaydyn was sniffing suddenly expanded rapidly, as if a hose was shoved down the back and was pumping hot mud into the garment. Jaydyn broke away for a moment and looked up, to see something horrific:
The boy pooping his diaper on Jaydyn's face, it was...Himself? Except 'normal', with a trim physique and all his teeth.
The dream faded away, but Jaydyn could still smell what he'd been smelling. As his eyes began to flutter open, he could hear Logan calling out:
"...MOM! HE LEAKED AGAIN AND IT'S REALLY STINKY!"
The nightmare had ended for now, but it'd dropped him off back in his bed with a major blowout from the repeated soiling. That was a small price to pay to be relatively 'normal' again though.
As their mother came in the room, she looked down at her son with a sympathetic frown. "I think we might need something thicker for you to sleep in..."
Thicker than an Abena? His mind raced to the mega-thick diaper he'd just been pooping in his dream and he shuddered.
Hopefully it was all just a nightmare and not some kind of prophetic dream.
