Tale #113: Is It Worth It?

"Now, aren't you just the cutest thing? I think the tutu is a good fit for you, Brandon!"
His older sister was up to her old tricks again, and just like a fool, Brandon had stumbled right into them. The seventh grader had been tasked with babysitting him for the evening, and he'd begged her to go rent a game that their parents didn't approve of him playing. She was the 'T' necessary to get the 'T-rated' game, since otherwise he would have just gone to the video store himself.
Neither him or any of his friends looked old enough to pass for thirteen, which was unsurprising, since he was in the fourth grade. A couple of his friends *had* the game, since their parents were much more lax, but Brandon wanted to be able to play it freely at his own leisure.
Thus, with their parents going out for the evening, it had seemed like the perfect time to shoot his shot. The video store was only ten minutes by bike, and he had enough saved in his piggy bank to rent the game for the night, so why not?
Upon hearing his request and pondering aloud the level of her own benevolence, it became obvious why not. His big sister had always taken advantage of her role, with Brandon having no recourse. When they were younger, he'd been forced to play all manner of girly games: house, doctor, teacher... And without fail, he was always put into whatever role was befitting the 'baby' of the family.
As his sister got older, those kinds of games became fewer and fewer. She was technically a teenager now, by the loosest definition, and her interests had matured with her.
Mostly.
Brandon was still nine, so he still played imagination games with his friends, or engaged in solo play with toys, like any normal kid would. So his sister would sometimes try to interject herself into such play, but it seemed less like something she genuinely was interested in, and more like something she did to humor the boy. It was like a big kid who pretended to be on a play-phone for a toddler.
Brandon had grown wise to that demeaning tone, and he fussed his little heart out at her whenever she tried to lean too hard into the 'babysitter' mode. It'd happened as recently as a couple days prior, when he and his friend had been playing pretend secret agent in the house, and the girl had tried to get involved. If it had just been him, then Brandon might've allowed it, but it quickly became humiliating to have his friend see how she bossed Brandon around and talked down to him.
She *tickle-monster'd* him for Pete's sake. He could have peed himself in front of his friend, and very nearly had, so he felt well within his right to tell her to take a long walk off a short pier!
His sister hadn't been happy about that. She had complied, but she'd shot daggers at him. The incident had gone unspoken of until today, when he'd been asking about getting the game. That's where the girl's pettiness had come to haunt him. He should have known better.
She offered a trade. She would rent the game for him, and even keep it a secret throughout an entire weekend of him getting to play it, but he'd have to do everything she said for the weekend. It was a rough agreement to have to make, but Brandon had honestly thought he'd just play the role of servant. Do her chores, bring her drinks, make her a sandwich, et cetera.
He would have been so lucky if that was the case. Instead, it would seem like she wanted to play some 'imagination games' with him, just like he was six again or something. That's how he'd been forced into a game of 'dress-up'. That's why he was wearing her old tutu, from the brief period that she'd been interested in ballet. A mostly perfect fit for his wispy frame.
"Goes well with your Huggies. Doesn't cover them up all the way though, and those tights are pretty see-through..."
That was the first thing he'd had to put on. It'd been one of the first edicts of her authority over him. They weren't Huggies, not really, but the difference was arbitrary; he was a bedwetter, and while the kind of protection that could just be pulled up was good enough for a sleepover, he'd had a few too many leaky ones to not get something a little thicker. They may not have been Huggies, but they were diapers, and arguably just a sized-up baby diaper without the prints.
Wearing it outside of bed time or early morning felt wrong, like the time of day completely changed the context of the garb. He'd been able to put it in the 'bedwetter's pants' bucket before, but now it was just a...Diaper. Like, for dumb little babies that weren't housebroken yet.
Being made to put on a diaper had almost made their transaction come to an immediate end. It felt like a huge line for her to cross, and so soon too! He'd only been calmed down by the rhetoric of how he'd have to put one on in a few hours any way, so what was the difference?
She had been kind of right about that. His parents were firm about his bedtime being ten, and he usually put it on a little before that. Besides, aside from the video store, it wasn't like he planned on being anywhere else but home this evening. Brandon knew she was just trying to mess with him as payback, but was wearing a diaper for a few extra hours really that bad?
It was hardly the first time that he'd played being the 'baby', though probably the first time in a few years. She squeezed way more powder down the backside of the diaper than he needed, and she did her 'baby talk' at him, but it wasn't too bad. At least until it was time to dress-up in more stuff.
So now he was dressed like a baby ballerina: diaper, tights, tutu, and ballet shoes. His cheeks were a brighter color than his outfit and he was hoping that she'd soon be placated; he was emasculated, but at least it only existed in this particular little bubble, and they still needed to go pick up that game...
"Can you do a little twirl for me, Brandon?"
"Ruuuuuth..." He fussed back softly, feeling as though 'dress-up' had met a natural conclusion.
"Don't whine at me, little man. We made a deal, remember?" Ruth put her hands on her hips.
The boy let out a defeated sigh and relented to her command. With all the grace of a boy in a diaper that had never done ballet, he lifted his arms and tried to do a twirl on one foot, which just about had him tumble over. His sister let out a laugh, "You might need some more practice!"
Brandon reoriented himself and glared at the older girl, "C-come on, this is stupid. I look like an idiot."
She ruffled his hair up, "Yeah, a little bit. Like I said, you definitely need some practice; you'll want to know how to dance when you get older and look for a girlfriend."
The boy looked at her, and then down at himself, and then back at her with a raised eyebrow. "A girlfriend that wants a boy in a diaper and a pink tutu?"
Ruth snickered, "Well, you never know. Think of it like training with weights on; if you can dance and not look like too much of a doofus in that, then you can dance in normal clothes and look really cool."
As cute as the banter was, Brandon was getting increasingly agitated. "Can we *please* go get the game now?"
"Need to practice that patience too, squirt. Fine, we can go get your little game."
He rolled his eyes and started to pull the tights down, but he was quickly interrupted from continuing: "I didn't say you could take all that off yet, did I?"
"But you said we could go get the game!"
"Yeah, and?"
"I-I can't wear this outside! No game is worth that!"
Brandon definitely meant it that time too. He would put up with a lot of things to get what he wanted, but going out while looking like this, would be social suicide. Which would be worse, being called a baby or a sissy? This was his line in the sand.
"Such a serious look for such a silly little boy." The older girl cooed, reaching over to punch mockingly at his cheek. "Okay, okay. We can find something else for you to wear, but the diaper stays on; no point in messing up the tapes for a short trip out."
That was still right on the line for him. He'd never had to wear the diapers under normal clothes, only really pajamas, and being at home, he never really thought about if they were showing. The one currently on his butt felt huge though, like it'd be impossible to obscure completely. It may only be a trick of his own perception, but he was too young and dumb to realize that fully.
"Nobody will know, Brandon. Nobody's going to be checking out your butt. Come on, let's go see what you have in your dresser."
Brandon first sat on the ground and got the ballerina slippers off, before huffing and puffing to get the tutu off as quickly as possible. His sister looked amused as he tossed it hard at the ground, right before taking off the tights and dropping them on top. "So dramatic..."
He didn't look any less ridiculous now that he was stripped down to just his diaper. Less girly, but more like a giant toddler. Smelled like one too, with the abundant talcum that basically whipped around the inside of his diaper like a dust storm. The sweet-smelling lad led the charge to his bedroom, figuring he should at least be the one to figure out what wardrobe would most conceal the puffy padding.
His dresser drawers were already sloppily hung open, and half of his clothes littered the floor of his bedroom, along with a bunch of his toys. His sister looked visibly frazzled by the chaos, since her own room was a den of order. "Your room is a pigsty, Brandon. How are you supposed to find anything?"
"I just know where everything is! This is just how I organize."
"Oh, I see. Very organized, Brandon. Power Rangers dolls go next to the Pokemon panties?"
His face got red, "Action figures, not dolls! And those are briefs, not *panties*. Girls wear panties."
"My mistake. I guess you're right though, I've never seen panties that look like *that*. Might as well be training pants."
Brandon turned his head and saw what she meant: besides the exceptionally juvenile designs that cartoon briefs already had, wear they kind of looked a little too closer to diapers in a way, there were also not in great shape. Yellow stains on the front from improper urinal procedures, plenty of skids in the back from other toileting faux pas.
"They aren't that bad. That's what the washing machine is for!"
She bent down and pinched the Pikachu-printed garment by the yellow waistband, her expression blanching. "Do you just not know how to wipe your own butt, or have you been having 'uh-oh' accidents again?"
The way she said 'again' was far more damning than what the truth actually was. He hadn't been a notorious pantspooper since he was in Kindergarten, and that was a whole four years ago! Basically half his life ago. To her though, having been older at the time, it probably seemed more recent in her memory.
"I don't do that anymore, Ruth! I haven't done that since I was a little kid! Least not if I wasn't sick or something." There *had* been the little league game last year, where he pooped his uniform in the dugout, but he'd been under the weather. It sure was a good thing that the game had almost been over, and that his pants were already dirty from playing!
"Well, either way, maybe putting your bedtime diaper on early was a good idea. Spare mom from another icky pair of your 'briefs'. Maybe you need a potty refresher course." She teased, dropping the briefs back on the floor.
Brandon didn't have a response to that, other than an irritated grumbling. Instead, he was squatting down on the floor and sorting through the various articles of clothing that littered the carpet. He needed something baggy enough to hide his diaper, and he didn't want their to be even a shred of doubt that it was sufficient.
His sister sat on his unmade bed, which rustled from the plastic sheets that existed as a secondary precaution; they were hidden by his 'Ninja Turtle' bedsheets, but the sound was unmistakable. She watched on with an amused smile, wondering what outfit her brother would concoct. It was sure to be a fashion disaster at the least.
Brandon wound up in the loosest pair of shorts he could find, with sports leggings underneath that and a night-shirt that was several sizes too big for him. To top it off, those poop-stained Pokemon briefs had gone on over the diaper too, just in case. He grabbed a ball cap from his closet too and put it on, tilting the brim of the hat down to 'obscure' his identity.
Ruth rolled her eyes, "What, no secret agent shades? You know, you're just going to draw more attention to yourself by dressing all goofy like that."
"Nuh-uh. No one will know it's me; I'm undercover."
"You're undercooked if you think that get-up will fool anyone. Let's just get going, alright?"
It was a short ride, and while it was unpleasantly warm, it was also fortunately free of any familiar faces along the way. It was only a handful of blocks away, when factoring in the shortcut across the bridge, it took ten minutes on average to reach that strip center by bike. Brandon didn't care much for the way the diaper chafed his thighs while riding, but that was probably because he was layered too much and getting a little swampy.
A benefit of going along with his sister's trade was that she said she would pay for the rental with her own allowance. It wasn't huge, but it did mean he could spend a little more on snacks instead. He went inside with her and let her know which game to get, but she looked a little reluctant as she peered down at that 'T-rating' again.
"They might not let me rent it, if they think I'm getting it for you. We should get something else to rent too, so they think you're getting a different game or movie or whatever."
The truth was that the underpaid teens would not give any amount of damns about it. They only refused to sell to obvious little kids because they didn't want a pissy parent to storm in; any loophole that gave them the benefit of the doubt, no matter how blatant, they would happily roll with. To Brandon though, the logic was sound, and he assumed his sister would be picking up the tab.
"I'm only gonna be playing that, so you can just grab whatever. I'm gonna go pick out what candy I wanna get."
His sister would approach a few minutes later, while he was filling his arms with various sweets; she gave him a look and reminded him that she'd only be paying for the rentals, and that he'd be on his own with the sugar. That was fine by him! He happily pushed all the treats onto the counter and began to dig in his pockets for cash, before realizing that he'd neglected to grab some before they left.
He'd been so preoccupied with hiding his diaper, that he'd completely neglected his preparation. Ruth seemed to pick up on his despair and leaned down to whisper in his ear:
"I'll buy the candy too, *if* you act really excited about the decoy game."
That told him that she probably picked some girly game and was trying to embarrass him. He looked up at the high schooler who was currently scanning the candy, and he nodded quietly, figuring he was in 'disguise' anyway.
"Oh, boy! I can't wait to play that for the whole weekend! It'll be so much fun! Way better than your game, Ruth!"
Ruth smiled and put the games on the counter, "Gee, I don't know about that, baby bro. I just hope you're able to learn something from it. Your game is definitely more 'educational' than mine..."
"Okay, we got one copy of 'Fatal Phantasms', and one copy of... 'Elmo's Big Potty Adventure'." The teen looked like he was having to hold back a laugh at that, especially as he looked down at the fourth grader with a skeptical look. "Having some learning troubles, little guy?"
Brandon's face turned bright red, but it was his sister who replied for him. "He's a slow learner. Maybe Elmo can help him out though! I want both games for the whole weekend too; maybe he'll be outta of diapers by Monday."
He wanted to defend himself, to call out his sister's deception, but his whole core was overloaded by shame. Brandon could do nothing but stand there with wide eyes, while his sister shared a laugh with the employee and paid for their things. He just stood there and felt hot all over, though especially around his crotch.
It wasn't until Ruth grabbed his hand to forcibly lead him toward the exit, having seen him lock up, that he realized that he'd wet his pants. More accurately, he'd peed in his diaper, and during the daytime too. It wasn't a reaction that he'd had before, but he'd also been drinking a lot of cola today, and he hadn't peed since putting the diaper on a couple of hours ago.
It was warm and squishy between his thighs; heavy and swollen with hot liquid failure. His sister was laughing and saying something about the look on his face, but he wasn't paying any attention to her; all he could think about was the soggy garment underneath his clothes, and how there would be no justification for such an infantile act.
He sat back down on his bike and winced at the feeling. It was like when he got up in the morning, except magnified. His happiness over getting his game had soured, and his sister's little prank was seeming more prescient already. Was all of this really worth it?
