Hey Ben. It's a perfectly sensible question. I tried to follow the same strumming pattern as Charles. For the verse you are correct that there are 2 (slow) downstrokes - then 4 quick up and down strokes... and then the descending G# etc. You can see that my left hand doesn't release any pressure on the strings. I'm just leaving out some upstrokes. For the chorus Charles just plays alternating (fast) down and up. I tabbed it with the first upstroke left out but you can play it either way. He really does play it full on - like a train! Hope that helps!

Hello Sparky! Thanks for this, it's such a great song. I am trying to work out the strum pattern from your YouTube video and the tab. Are you doing the first 2 strums on the C#minor as down strums or as slower up/downs? The other possibility is that you are playing continuous 16th notes but only pressing down when you want the first 2 notes to play- but it doesn't look like you are doing that. The same question applies to the chorus with the first and second strums of, for instance, the F#. Sorry for such a detailed question- I am sure you just play it by feel and it is so fast it is hard to remember what you are doing! Much appreciated, Ben
