IT'S SUNDAY EVENING!
🕑 Added 2025-08-31 18:29:00 +0000 UTCYes it is. Sorry to remind you all. Hope you've had a nice weekend.
Here’s something that put a smile on my face yesterday: I was scrolling through Reddit, and stopped on a post about the dreadful Aliens Vs Predator films. They were, as you might recall, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson – who also did the Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil adaptations. Back in the day on Digi, we coined a nickname for him: Paul “Bad Film” Anderson.
Anyway, I was reading through the post and was delighted to find someone refer to him as – yes – Paul “Bad Film” Anderson. That put a big smile on my face.
Always weird and pleasing when I see Digi things pop up in the wild, and that - even 30-odd years on - it's still part of some people's lexicon.
Aaaanyway…
This is just to say that David Walford has updated the Chunky Fringe website with new details. You can read that here: https://www.arbitraryfiles.com/events/cf25/index.html
And we hope to see some of you there in just over a month's time, for a nice get together and lots of the usual madness. It's free for pity's sake!
We were meant to be filming tomorrow, but Sanja’s still having leg problems. The twisted ankle she had las week has – as these things often do – caused a pinched nerve further up the leg, so walking is painful. Given we’ve a biiiiiiiiiig video to do on Saturday, that we absolutely have to do and will require a lot of walking, we don’t want her to push it. So, we’ve pencilled in Tuesday or Wednesday for filming instead, but we’ll play it by ear. You’ll still get stuff this week one way or another.
Including an utterly batshit Bubblegun tomorrow…
We've found a great angle for next weekend's ghost hunt that, I think, nobody has done before - and will make this different to other "supernatural worlds" that we've covered. We've been watching a bunch of ghost hunting things to see how other people do them, and... in all honesty, I end up raging at the screen. For me it's the content equivalent of someone telling me their dream, so we've been studying them to see how we either subvert or completely up-end what has become a very solid bunch of predictable cliches now. That said, I did buy a cheap night vision camera...
Anyway. Right. Send positive healing energy to Sanja's leg, and hope you all have a good start to the week!

You should try watching "Help! My House is Haunted!", it's actually quite entertaining lol

We did have a watch of Amy's Crypt. Well put together, but I think I'd already watched too much ghost hunting by that point. Will give her another go!

Gah, really hoping Sanja's leg will be better soon! :( Great that your phrase was used - would have been nice if it was credited, but maybe I'm being over-sensitive! Really looking forward to Saturday, and also looking forward to seeing how your night vision camera performs! I was/am tempted to bring along my (second-hand, so I am most definitely not showing off!) Sony AX-53 (hoping to acquire another two, when I get some more work (largely my fault, yes!)), which is used by some paranormal YouTube channels - partly for being a 4K camera, but also having great night-vision capabilities. But then again, probably best I just focus on getting myself there, let alone any tat! Re: Ghost hunting things, again, I would recommend Amy's Crypt (also creators of the "Ghosttube" suite of apps) and also Paranormal Quest - both are not full of shit in any way, and often - much to my chagrin, will have a whole episode with not much happening. They don't fake things. Anyway, as always, no pressure at all to get content to us, and hoping Sanja will be feeling ok soon. Oh and yes, that Mortal Kombat film is pretty bad (still recall being disappointed by it during Christmas '95!).
