Asking because the book was featured in your video: we are ten years from the publication of Capital in the 21st Century (published in 2013, English translation in 2014, reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list in May 2014). Have you seen or do you expect any big retrospectives on the book? I find it strange to think back about what a sensation that book was. These days it seems almost everyone, left or right, has a strong sense that there is an oppressive ruling class. In this context, it is odd to view “inequality” as an abstract phenomenon that requires a technical explanation. Do you think Piketty could still be called influential, or did he make his mark on a moment that has passed?
