Are groundhogs the largest animal to truly hibernate (not just torpor)? DO groundhogs truly hibernate? I've heard that while hibernating ground hogs can lower their heart rate to just 2 beats per minute-- is this true and HOW?! How can they slow their metabolism and everything down so much so their heart can beat only 2 times a minute without starving their body of oxygen? Thank you :))
