I was confused until I saw that you had to say goodbye to the cat. Losing a pet is one of the most painful things there is. I wouldn't begrudge you saying goodbye in any way you wanted.

I’m sorry for your loss, I’ve been through that a few times with some of my closest pets. It takes a lot of courage to be with them in those final moments, but I know that it means the world to them.
