Katy Wix actually just recently gave some additional behind the scens context for her studio absence when she was on Ed Gamble and James Acaster's podcast. Apparently she had gallstones and needed emergency surgery to remove her gallbladder. Considering that they shoot all the studio segments by doing two episodes a day over the course of a week, it's pretty impressive that she returned after pretty much only one day's absence. Though for obvious reasons she was on both antibiotics and painkillers during this episode. They actually had another contestant on standby in case she couldn't go through with it, and after Kerry Godliman and Katherine Ryan of course their third choice was... Paul Chowdhry.

David Baddiel adds as much to the show as a whole as the contestants that do well. Its the same reason why I think comedians are preferred for this show. The points to me are secondary to the chaos
