Ascension - part 2
🕑 Added 2021-10-15 14:08:40 +0000 UTCHere comes the part 2 of the new workstation computer build. Since I'm more of a visual guy, I did a well documented guide of the prosess for you all to come see and learn from.
I resumed cabling here and had done thourough cleaning of the HAF case. There was an loads of cables that needed to go into this build, so I had to be organized from the start, or it would only lead to bad air flow.
Here I came across an unforseen problem with my setup, I had too few CPU 8pin connectors going to the mobo, the TRX40 required 2. So I had to salvage some old psu cables to solve this problem.
All gpu's cleaned and ready to go, the far left card was dead, and was not used in the final rig. (GTX 1050)

Had to invested in a proper sound card. And now a days they only give you the USB type to stay clear of the radiation and noise pollution that is going on inside the case. And that is A-OK! Looks pretty rad too.
Finished cabling and installing everything. Testing some lights before I start it up from a secondary PSU just to be safe.
Last inspection of the rig before I power it on, full view of the new rig with all its components and cables in place.
It's alive! All is working! I was really nerveous like everyone is the first time their booting up a home built computer.
The lights and rig is looking wonderful.
Backside cable management, had to be very thorough here, or the back plate would not fit. At this point, I had went through 200 strips.
Upgrading my old windows 7 is never too late apparently hah. Finally on windows 10!
Then comes the home wrecker.. Now that everything was in place, I had given up on the RTX series, but was notified my 3090 was in stock and one was reserved for me. I was very excited, and rushed like a steed on meth to the store to secure it, before some hilarious scenary got time to play itself out. Even told the clerk on the phone to "Guard it with his life." Which he only replied, okay sir.
Now unboxing and inspecting this card was spectacularrrrrrrr... The size of these babes are larger than any GPU I have ever seen before.
After managing to fit it into the case, I see another problem, this takes up 2,5 gpus Bays, making it impossible to run more cards. This image also serves as a size comparison for the old 1080.
The card radiates power and after many days installing and setting up the machine to once again render Lustgard content. I saw the limitations of my old case and psu. I simply did not have enough space or share watt to power all my graphics cards. I had to come up with a solution, and it was add another psu and switch case.
Here is the add2psu device, simple but gets the job done.
And then I had to reduce the size of the 3090, and the fine thing with Evga, is that they had made a magnificent CLC kit for them. I got this by second hand unused.
Now starts the delicate process of converting my brand new, almost unused 3090, which of course threw some alerts in my head.
First I had to open the 3090, which was simple enough but also a risky task, if something would break or crack, it would delay everything by months, so I made sure to have a focused and calm mind before embarking upon such a task.
The brilliant 3090 gpu chip in all its glory, this technology is and what it can do will forever baffle me. How can something so seemingly small do such complex tasks. I made sure all through the build to watch youtube videos, google and have removed any static electricity in my body.
It was a blazing success! The bright engineers behind the design and technology made the upgrading process a breeze.
Now, I had to have more space, so after some googling, I discovered that Phanteks was the right call, both price and quality was excellent. The Enthoo PRO II became my natural choice for this build demanding the clever design for two psu's.

A truly colossal case. The perfect match for the computers extensive component list.
This further delayed all renders yet again, I had to take out everything from the old HAF 932 case AGAIN! And start all over.
Last picture day 1 before calling it a night. My fingers where numb.
Day 2, I started to realize that all the gpu's would generate enourmous heat, since two of them still where air cooled. So I had bought a riser cable in advance cause I knew I could not just stack'em like a sandwich. But a new problem surfaced, I had no place to install it like the manufactures wanted it. So I had to McGuyver my way to success, a common practice for me so far. I took the a pair of metal cutting pliers and started to cut an unused phanteks 3,5' hdd bay, I had come to far to let such easily replaceable items delay me anymore.
Another success! Everything fit and had ample power and cooling.
Yet another success! Everything worked on first try, being careful and focused. I had installed a NZXT temperature & fan controll display, this to have a realtime monitoring on the system during long renders, when the monitor is off and minimal amount of programs running to ensure stability for blender.

All systems nominal. Com link online. MilSpeck ED-209 online. Checklist protocol initiated. Running level on diagnostic. U.S.D.A selected. F.D.I.C approved. Checklist completed. S.O.B. Blender 2.93.5 cycles rendering success!

this is helping me understand more and more on this hobby that i want to get involved in. i just started to mess around with the program and its gonna be months before i go to blender. now i need to start upgrading my gaming pc .
