Just in case...
🕑 Added 2017-12-15 12:01:16 +0000 UTC Friday's strip posted, both a tad early (yeah, like a few minutes :) ) for you nice people, and in case my hosting service decides to flake out on us for the third time this week. :)Not 100% happy with the perspective of the scene, but really, it took a lot of fiddling just to make it look that good.
In case the layout isn't clear, the round thing at the far end indicates where the High Energy Physics Lab used to be, and the passage to the right of it is the side hallway that Roger and Jinx 'bounced' down to get out of the way.
The rooms to either side of Doc were hinted at by the doorways shown in the cross-corridor seen when Roger was running from the drones, and are just various labs and equipment storage.

That'd depend on the exact nature of the beam. The fact that it's not hotter than hell down there indicates the beam may have been "other" in nature not a thermal effect.
If they were glowing-radioactive-dangerous, chopping their ends off and making them smaller will make them LESS dangerous. Radioisotopes like to have friends around to increase their nastiness!

I wonder how radioactive Roger is now. He's always given off a few minor rads due to that "accident" in the past, but this could bump him up to Legally Regulated status.

Well Doc passed Jinx asleep on the couch on the way in so I imagine he is fine. Roger is yet to be determined, but pervious episodes tell he he is fairly sturdy.

The ironic thing is this that from what I remember of when this happened, it WASN'T overkill. Granted, that's because the situation had passed what TV Tropes calls the Godzilla Threshold (when the risk of collateral damage caused by the use of a weapon is no longer greater than the risk of collateral damage caused by NOT using the weapon- it's about the only thing that can rebut the presumption in modern international law (by current interpretations anyway) that a nuclear attack is a war crime)
