Do you Believe in Santa

“What the hell, haven’t you ever heard of knocking?” Carter replied, quickly putting his video game on pause.
His mother looked around the room, shaking her head at the state of it, Carter would refuse to let anyone clean it and it took a lot of arguing to make him do it himself. “As long as you’re living under my roof I will come in here whenever I want. I’ve been letting you get away with too much for too long now, you’re an adult and you never seem to actually act your age.”
Carter shook his head in disbelief and unpaused his game, quickly refocusing his attention to the screen in front of him. His mother didn’t like this one bit, she had grown tiresome of his late night gaming sessions, they always seemed to be taking up a growing portion of his free time. She stormed over to the television and flipped off the switch at the power point.
Carter stood up and shouted at his mother. “What the fuck is your problem. He said shaking his fists angrily. “GIve me my privacy and just piss off.”
Considering the outburst his mother remained relatively calm and had to use all the restraint she could muster to stop herself from bringing the bigger boy over her lap and giving him the long overdue spanking he definitely deserved.
“Carter, you don’t pay rent.” She started saying calmly, retaining her composure. “You have no need for privacy, you are my son. As far as I am concerned you are no more mature than a toddler which your little outburst clearly shows. Toddlers and little boys don’t get privacy they need their mothers to look after them. Now, to the point I was trying to make when I first came in here. Why did I here from Sarah’s mother that you told the poor child Santa isn’t real. What the hell is your problem, why would you say something like that to someone so sweet?”
She waited patiently for Carter to reply, he sat on the edge of his bed fiddling with the disconnected controller trying to find the right words to explain himself. There was no excuse though, he was just in a bad mood, his friends were all off at college and he wasn’t able to get into the same school as them so he decided not to bother going all together. Now he was stuck at home with his mother who still treated him like a child in his eyes. He had a curfew and she always knew when he was going out to go drink and she would refuse to let him. Telling him if she even got a tiny whiff of alcohol off of him, he would be going to find somewhere else to live.
The poor child definitely didn’t deserve it, she had just asked him what he had asked Santa to give him for Christmas as he went to leave the house and it just slipped out. He didn’t have a chance to explain himself before she had quickly ran off home crying.
“I didn’t mean to, it just slipped out I’m sorry.” He said, trying to showcase his remorse that he did legitimately feel. He didn’t want to ruin anyone else life and make them feel as shitty as he had been lately.
“Just slipped out.” His mother started to say unimpressed. “Well that just isn’t good enough Carter, bringing your neighbour to tears because you’re just a brat and a bully.”
“Im not.” Carter whimpered.
“You’re not? The first thing you thought to do was swear at me when I walked into your bedroom, It’s the holiday season and you are being the biggest piss head, you need a serious attitude adjustment.”
Carter continued to sit awkwardly, still fiddling with the controller as he listened to his mother berate him.
“I was going to take away your games until you got a job, grounding you would do no good since you stay home all day anyway. But then I spoke to Sarah’s mother and let her decide your punishment. Since her daughter now thinks Santa isn’t real, you have to show her he is. This is how you’re going to do it. You try anything, one ounce of defiance and I will blister your bottom over my knee and throw you onto the street.”

Later that Day
The tears had finally dried up on Carters face, he had been quietly sobbing the past hour. He tried his hardest to put the thought of his throbbing red bottom out of his mind. His mothers threats weren’t just talk, she quickly put him over her knee the second he thought to question what she was doing. He hadn’t even meant to do it, it all came down to shock since he was so surprised what she was intending on dressing him in. Now here he sat in an adorable red and green Christmas themed onesie with little reindeer dotted over it. The toddlers outfit did nothing to hide the massive crinkly bulge around his waist, the diaper that was the source of his original shock. The creme his mother had generously lathered onto his bottom was now cooling and finally didn’t sting like it had after it was first put onto him. He smelled very much like baby powder which he had generously been coated in, to use his mums words ‘it’s important for a big baby to smell like a big baby.’
He sighed sitting limply as his mother finished tying his shoes on. “Alright then. You’re all set to go. Don’t look so glum I haven’t forgotten how to look after a baby, look I have your diaper bag ready to go as soon as you need a change.”
Carter peered at the infantile bag his mother now had draped over her shoulder.
“Now we can explain to the neighbours that you were just having a little tantrum because you hadn’t gotten to see Santa yet and tell him what you wanted. I can’t wait to get a picture with you on his knee, and Sarah is looking forward to it too.”
Carter silently took his mums outstretched hand and allowed himself to be pulled up.
“I think this is definitely what you needed, all little babies believe in Santa Carter, so you’ll be no different. You’re friends are off at college, you just aren’t ready for that, no little boys need to stay home with their mothers. You can’t expect your professors to change your stinky diapers can you.”
And with those final remarks, Carter was led outside for what would be the first of many embarrassing days ahead.
