Dylan awoke to the curtains been drawn back over his crib, as the invasive sunlight basked the entire room in a morning glow. Dylan strained his eyes, tossing over he covered his face with the pillow.
“Dylan baby it’s time to wake up now.”
Dylan tossed over again, why was Melony waking him up so early? But then it dawned on him, that wasn’t Melony’s voice. As Dylan shot up sitting upright his eyes met directly with his mothers who was smiling down at him over the crib bars. Memories suddenly flooded back to him of the horrible day and night he had yesterday. As Dylan mentally relived his nightmare Cheryl pulled down the side of the crib and removed his sheet to get a better look at his soaked diaper.
“No leaks! That’s great news looks like these thicker diapers work well on you.”
Dylan looked down in horror at the soaked padding around his waist. It felt very full; he tried to remember how much he wet before going to sleep. Surely this was all from then and he didn’t wet himself during his sleep. No that would be impossible he thought to himself, he didn’t actually need to wear a diaper he was just being forced to. While Dylan was contemplating his situation Cheryl had taken the opportunity to leave the room. Dylan watched her come back carrying with her what looked like a diaper bag. As much as he so desperately wanted to Dylan didn’t say anything merely looked on in desperation as Cheryl pulled the wet tapes from his diaper, clearly intent on changing him into a fresh one he knew nothing he said or did would change her mind.
He obediently raised his bottom so Cheryl could pull the dirty diaper away. She dropped it into what looked like a baby’s diaper pail next to the crib. He heard a wet thud as it landed on the bottom of the metallic surface. He held his bottom in the air as she unfurled a fresh diaper and slid it under him. She coaxed him back down as he came into contact with the crinkly padding. Dylan shuddered as she ran the cool wipe over him, wiping clean his crotch and bottom. Next come the baby powder, a very liberal dusting coating him ensuring there would be no chance of diaper rash. Cheryl cooed as she brought the front of his diaper over, tapping it shut. She smiled warmly at him while adjusting his diaper making sure it was a good fit. She took a step back proudly admiring a job well done, looking most satisfied with herself. Dylan wondered if this is what she wanted all along, to have a baby she could coddle and change their diapers.
“Are you going to take me home now? I want to see Melony.” Dylan asked with the slightest hint of desperation in his voice.
“I know you do baby and I promise you will see her today, but right now we need to get some food in your tummy.”
Cheryl held Dylan’s hand as she pulled him gently from the crib and led her crinkly son down the hallway and into the kitchen. Dylan was almost surprised but definitely relieved that there was no high chair waiting for him. Not that he would have fit into it but it almost seemed that his mother had planned for something like this to happen for some time now. Cheryl led Dylan to his seat at the table and he sat down with a crinkly plop onto the cushioned chair. She hummed merrily to herself as she went about making Dylan breakfast. He watched her pour a glass of orange juice and he smiled but the moment was ruined when she used the glass to pour it into a baby’s bottle. She put the bottle down in front of Dylan who took it and started drinking instantly, not wanting to risk another bottle feeding from his mother.
Cheryl turned on the pan and cooked up a delicious serving of bacon and eggs which she served with toast. She walked back over to Dylan and tied a bib around his neck. She then returned with a full plate for him which had been cut up into bite sized pieces. Dylan put his bottle down as his stomach growled hungrily, he looked up at Cheryl expectantly waiting for her to give him some cutlery. She sat down across from him with her own plate of food.
“Babies use their hands they don’t need cutlery, now eat your food before it gets cold.”
Cheryl didn’t wait for a response and started digging into her own food. Dylan sighed and reluctantly started scooping up food into his hands and putting it into his mouth. His hands got greasy quickly and he was actually thankful that he could wipe them on his bib. By the time that he was finished both his bib and mouth were a mess. Thankfully no food had dropped onto his diaper or the floor. Cheryl having finished her meal and noticing that Dylan was done walked over with a napkin and wiped his mouth clean. She removed his plates and took them to the dishwasher before taking away his messy bib and leaving it on the counter.
“I’m glad you liked it I haven’t cooked breakfast for you in a long time, although I don’t remember hearing you say thank you.” Cheryl said expectantly.
“Sorry, mum thank you.” He replied.
She continued to watch him as if that wasn’t the correct thing to say, he quickly realised his mistake before reluctantly repeating himself.
“I mean, thank you mommy.”
Cheryl beamed at her son. Before he wouldn’t have even made the effort to come and see her, now here he was sitting at her dining room table in only a diaper calling her mommy and thanking her for breakfast. She really wished he would stay this way, maybe she could find a way to keep him in diapers. She didn’t want to get in the way of his and Melony’s relationship but she definitely wanted to be a bigger part of it. She had missed the connection she used to have with her son greatly and now finally it felt like she was getting a part of it back in the most unexpected way. There was something so therapeutic about putting him in diapers she would have to find a way to convince Melony to keep him in them, but she already had a feeling that on some level they were each already thinking the same thing.
Cheryl’s phone buzzed bringing her out of her trance; she looked over and saw a message from Melony signalling she had arrived. She walked over to Dylan and took the pacifier attached to the ribbon from her pocket. She draped it over his neck and coaxed it into his mouth with no resistance.
“Good boy, you sit right there I’ll be right back.” Cheryl said excusing herself.
She made her way to the front door and quietly opened it so that Dylan would be unable to hear her. She met Melony in the front yard as she exited the car.
