The Ex Pastor’s Wife
🕑 Added 2023-12-23 16:39:10 +0000 UTCI wasn’t that good at being a pastor’s wife. But really, the expectations were such that few people could ever live up to them without ending up at a total breakdown.
The worst time of the year as a pastor’s wife was Christmas. We could have no life. Family time was wedged in between all the church things that engulfed the majority of every day for weeks. Forget traveling to be with family for the holiday, because every single church service and even took priority. And oh how I loathed the years when Christmas fell on a Sunday, because that meant being in church on Christmas Eve AND Christmas morning.
I guess I was never a fan of making “Jesus” the center of the holiday. 😂😂😂 (and by “Jesus” I obviously mean the church because being at church seemed to be the true meaning of Christmas and Jesus was there sometimes as decoration.)
Anyhow… merry Christmas from the ex pastor’s wife. Glad I don’t have to be at church unless I want to be.

Merry belated Christmas! Happy to finally be here. You’re a gem and I love following you on Threads!! I left the church in 2016 and finally this week told my parents I wasn’t even going to church for Christmas. Happy to be among my people here. Thanks for creating a great community. I was a worship leader in the AG and Vineyard churches and Christmas always seemed to bring out the worst in people. Cantadas and music perfection were all about “representing” the church new people. It became about drawing people in for more access to more money. I left it all back in 2015 and won’t ever go back.
