No Bad Angle
🕑 Added 2023-10-19 00:14:34 +0000 UTCAnyone else often feel self conscious about camera angles? It’s wild how different we look in pictures depending on the angle of the camera. Especially being a “bigger woman” I known which camera angles are “best” for me and which to avoid.
Trying something a little different, I snapped this selfie. Absolutely the “wrong” camera angle with it shooting straight up and highlighting the parts of my face and neck I usually strategically avoid showing with a camera titled downward at my face and maybe a well placed hand to hide the possibility of a double chin. But this time I didn’t bother.
I wanted to get a picture of me looking ahead. Not looking back, but expectedly facing forward and thinking about what’s in front of me in my future. It was symbolic. Because of this I didn’t immediately delete it as I usually would.
For a minute I hated this picture. I think I actually said “ick.” But I kept going back to it and looking at it. I liked what it meant to me. Slowly I started to see it differently. I started to see the beauty in this picture.
But really, there are no “bad” angles. Only ones we can learn to appreciate and connect with a deeper meaning.
