Warning About Extra Holidays Mod

Extra Holidays adds two holidays to the calendar, Spookyfest and Flower Day. This mod was meant to be a small tweak to make it less tedious to add Halloween and Easter in the game, but unfortunately, I have uncovered some issues with it today, and I will be postponing today's planned public release, and suspending early access.
What went wrong?
I have uncovered two issues with custom holiday mods:
- They do not work on existing saves
- They can cause permanent errors when removed from a save
These "permanent errors" will appear when an affected save loads, and will not stop happening, no matter how many times you save and reload. To my knowledge, this does not actually harm your game, it's just annoying (if you have MCCC/BE) and is very difficult to get rid of.
What should we do?
If you installed Extra Holidays and...
- ...played in existing saves only → You're fine. You can remove the mod.
- ...played in new saves → Those saves are now dependent on Extra Holidays being installed. If you remove it, they will have permanent errors. You can either keep the mod in indefinitely (or at least until I come up with a fix for this issue), or you can remove it and deal with the error in those saves.
What's the status of the mod now?
I am currently looking into a way to make the holidays work on existing saves, and a utility mod that removes references to missing holidays within saves (this will also help with other common errors related to the holiday service).
I do not know when or if these will be ready, but I do not feel comfortable releasing Extra Holidays while these problems are active. When I figure this out, there will not be another early access period – I'll publish it as soon as I can confirm it is working without issues.
