So true. I was actually wondering why no one comments about it. This entire palace plot line is so annoying. Like there isn’t a proper flow. Going one POV to another abruptly.

I apologize for posting all these criticisms - I very much appreciate and like Ave Xia Rem Y, even though it may not seem like. It is a fantastic story, one of the best ever on RR. ...but: the confusing back and forth in this arc drives me crazy. Last we saw Jin in chapter 254 he was with Yong Zhuyi and they were talking about something that remained unknown to the reader. A couple chapters later there is no trace of Yong Zhuyi, who a apparently went his own way again, and Jin is dealing with somethin else entirely. And I guess a couple chapters further on the reader will be supposed to remember that aborted, "hidden" (from the reader) conversation with Yong Zhuyi (whose name I will have forgotten again by then) because something surprising will happen that relates to it... I mean, who in hell can read like this, especially in this form of episodic storytelling, and remember ANYTHING AT ALL ?!?! The threads of storytelling in this arc, the jumping around between so many characters is a confusing mess to me.

Dovhat

SHE LIVES! Kind of.

Robert Davidson

I have been waiting for this since the gut punch of Interlude: Her Name. Fuck yes.

Robert Davidson

Wrong way round - Su An is going to subsume smSu Daji, count on it.

Random aside, but it was a nice callback all the way back to chapter 10 about how a dragon acts "I made them from the claws of the dragon. They will serve you well in the future. Remember to never keep them too close to each other or else the dragon bone will seek to merge." So a dragon merging back together has been in the story since the beginning.

Andrew Do

Or the funner option they were “roommates” who had a bad breakup.

Green0Photon

I need to reread this fic. I've forgotten like everything about Su An. I can only remember broad strokes of stuff that happened before the Eternal Flame Sect stuff.

Mr R

It would be funny if 9HSG and the Storm Dragon killed each other, or one killed the other. What irony that would be, as they share their greatest successor.

Prometheus

Another interesting note is that dragons and snakes are closely related mythologically. Legends of snakes ascending to dragonhood are so common that they're a dime a dozen

Derek Walker

I think it’s simply pride. Why does Jin need anything else but his dragon inheritance? Is the storm dragon inheritance not enough for him? The dragon probably has a thing against snakes in particular but I think he would object to more other inheritances

Blahful

Or buddies and the snake betrayed Grandpa.

MasterofNova

Interestingly enough it also adds credence to Xun Huwen's opinions on the cultivation realms and why he considers them "stupid" since they seem artificially made. It seems like the lesser realms (Foundation-True) were put in place as training wheels for Humans (although spirit beasts share their realms for some reason? Maybe because they are able to change into human forms should they grow strong enough). While Demons are born equal in strength to a earth realm human, albeit not skill with presumably only 4 realms to go through. They probably don't suffer from the curse of Earth either, although whether they go through heavenly Tribulation or renegade madness is up in the air.

Pipeman

Liu Jin having stuff to outright smile about is just incredibly cathartic, especially since their banter is really fun on its own as well.

Sammot

Honestly I think su an and da ji have become inseparable, she is just su daji now.

Jasus

Snakes discard what is inconvenient to them and Dragons never give up anything. They seem to be opposite ideologies. My guess is that grandpa dragon and the snake were in the past enemies.

Valerian

I bet she does. Thing is, as she put it herself. Until this confrontation her thoughts were to garbled and confused to properly use her powers. The longer she has to acclimate the more abilities she will unlock.

Nathan Ganesan

Ancient chinese consort to the emperor, whose cruelty became legendary to the point that people began saying she was never a human at all, but a fox spirit that had bewitched the emperor.

Jasus

Does Su Daji have illusions in her portfolio, I wonder? It is often the cliche in Xianxia that the Da ji expy have illusions and fox fires.

Guy

But from the writing of the chapter the Nuwa thing makes me think that it was put there because someone else put a tribulation at the heaven realm. There are some interesting implications on who and how. There's also another interesting point that if beings gave tribulations to people in the past then are they still doing so, if so what are they if not then why not?

Kiwilord

Let's see what's left of Su An and Da Ji after this

Guy

There's also the question of how strong was the Storm Dragon when he was alive, and is the Storm Dragon even dead? Or has he moved on to a different plane? (Sorry for all the comments and questions, but there were a lot of interesting details in this chapter)

Guy

And from the way you've been using heaven it makes me wonder what exactly is the will of heaven?

Kiwilord

The nuwa thing makes sense, considering an unready cultivator would either die early if they reached to high or worse, become a calamity

Guy

There's also another question of what exactly Jin's inheritance is form the 9HSG, is it just the weapon and the weapon itself is what is causing the changes or are the Snake god's veins a separate part of the inheritance?

Guy

Also the Storm Dragon's description is both funny and intriguing lol. It makes me want to ask what we're the times where he was unhappy to be punched by his descendants?

Guy

Great chapter as usual. I wonder why the Storm Dragon is so intent on getting rid of Jin's snake inheritance, despite the fact that Old Jiang led him to it? It feels like something beyond possessiveness. I guess I should ask would the Storm Dragon have the same reaction if Jin had a non-demonic inheritance? And the bit about Nuwa is starting to answer some of the questions about cultivation. The tests that cultivators of Nuwa endure are not necessarily natural(I don't know if this is the best way to put it). This seems like something that has to be related to the animosity towards demons.

Andres Ceva

Thanks for the chapter! single step takes him right inside her blind stop (spot)

Moonkiller24

The true boss fight begins

Martin Toder

Is anyone here familiar with the legend of Da Ji? I've heard of it a few times before, but I don't really know the details.
