Catherine

I doubt his suspicions will be raised just yet. He has more problems than an unimportant young cultivator in the true realm who cannot harm him. The eternal flame sect has shown up on his doorstep to push him into stepping up his war efforts. From his reaction to their arrival this is not something he wants to do. He has far more important things to consider than an, as far as he knows, irrelevant cultivator no matter how talented

Catherine

I doubt it. Not for a while yet in any case. It’s not like they keep an eye out for anyone who might be descended from their old boss. Don’t forget he just disappeared. As far as they know he could have died a long time ago and he had no children when they knew him. If they suspect Jin of being related to the black storm dragon before he does a major healing or something that obviously showcases his extraordinary skills in medicine and alchemy I’d be very surprised. Once he does something like that, that’s when I would expect him to start having suspicions Also Jin learned to fight first from the Xiao sect so his fighting style will be different from his fathers even if they both used needles to target body parts in combat. Although I wouldn’t expect that particular method to be common Jianguo and Jin can hardly be the only people to do that.

Adam Blakeslee

It was actually mentioned that the name is pretty common in the SDE.

Adam Blakeslee

He'd have a suspicion at least. The medical fighting style and red eyes would be distinctive.

Adam Blakeslee

He's got to hook you in for the next chapter.

GloryHound

Why does every chapter end on a cliffhanger? Why do you do this to us? Do you get some sick perverse joy 🥺😭😢

Nathan Thompson

Thanks again for more great content.

Tbh them all being subordinates of his dad is more a point in favor of them not recognizing Liu Jin. They are going to have some suspicions due to his eyes and the skills he shows but otherwise his personality is very different from what his dad during his reign was supposedly like. The Duke worked under his grandpa, not his dad, and took Liu Jin's views on the mandate as a major indicator for his royal lineage. The Generals will be suspicious but I don't think they will be certain of his heritage until Liu Jin encounters the Storm Dragon. If I had to guess, Liu Jin will hear rumors about the royal palace's court musician and draw a connection to Su An. Wanting to investigate he will join the diplomatic mission to the royal capital and there the Storm Dragon will call him out on his heritage, maybe even giving Liu Jin a challenge for the inheritance.

Pipeman

I mean, as I mentioned above. Until otherwise stated, the fact that they survived the reign of Liu Jin's dad and were in a position to seize power afterwards implies pretty heavily that the three Generals were literally his dad's immediate subordinates. Looking it up, Murong Bang literally says at one point: “If the old Boss were still around, he’d be able to heal this. A pity he isn’t.” By my reading odds are pretty likely that at least he was part of the posse of murder hobos Liu Jin's dad used to seize the country, so I'm gonna assume they knew him well.

Elijah Overland

He's literally been going by the royal name, it's maybe the least conspicuous disguise imaginable.

burning_the_paper

The Duke knew Liu Jin's grandfather personally, so it's safe to assume he was around the royal family a lot and would be able to recognize them based on their distinctive features.

David Wei

Personally I think she might end up with Huang Shing. Look, we know the storm dragon waifu is Su An/Daiyu. It doesn't make sense to add another one right now. But Huang Shing is going through his side plot line right now. There's hints that his former relationship was nowhere near as stable as he thought it was. And this girl is the right power, personality, and place for the two to potentially end up together.

Scipio

Shes kinda too weak though. All the haremites should be top class in their respective elements, so unless she was much younger, that wouldnt make sense

Maniac000

The General definitely recognized Liu Jin’s fighting style. He’s gonna put two and two together. The red eyes on top of that certainly makes it obvious. I imagine Liu knows the likelihood is high the Emperors will see him for who he is.

Pipeman

I figure that from a purely literary perspective, there's a solid chance that each of the three generals is gonna represent an aspect of Liu Jin's dad's time as a tyrannical monster. Murong Bang as the senseless brutality, for obvious reasons. General He as something along the lines of ruthless pursuit of ambition, given that he's the one hanging around the palace doing politics, at least making a small effort to appear loyal to gain more influence and possibly making deals with the DFS. No idea what Nie Dan's deal actually would be, if my guess is accurate, but the whole point of this setup would be to confront Liu Jin with different representations of his father's sins, so I assume the immediate arc will be about having to cope with Nie Dan's faults.

Chase C

The Duke was able figure out who Liu Jin was almost immediately, though. So I'd expect any Emperor he encounters to be able to as well.

Theory: The results of these talks will be to attempt the formation of an alliance between General He and General Dan against Murong Bang. The Divine Frozen Palace who have started to show interest in the SDE would obviously not disapprove. For the Eternal Flame Clan it would be a first step towards ending the war as well as not having to oppose the Endlessly Raging Valley alone. Liu Jin wants to remove Murong Bang so he would also go along with it. Lastly, this would also make sense for the Death Fashioning Scripture if we assume that General He is already secretly loyal to them as he could work together with Elder Fa. I assume so due to Su Daji's remarks about General He's "disgustingly familiar" smell. DFS might even move to sway General Dan to their side or rid themselves of both Dan and the EFC in one quick betrayal after Murong Bang is dead. This plan would give them control over the entire SDE, though Liu Jin will throw a wrench into that. But there are so many moving pieces in this puzzle so I will probably be wrong. What are your theories?

Pipeman

He's an Emperor Realm cultivator and Liu Jin is not thirty years old. Even if there had been a significant gap between Liu Jin's dad "retiring" and Liu Jin's birth, since his dad crippled his own cultivation, there's little chance of him wandering long enough for an entirely new Emperor Realm cultivator to hit fifth rank. Basically, until stated otherwise, I would assume all the Generals were in fact his dad's evil henchmen and chief enforcers.

Robert Mullins

He's got his fire and ice harem members and a decent contender for earth. Is it time to acquire his next element?

almostNEET

I wonder how old this general is and if there's any chance of him identifying Liu Jin...

Amelgar

Lui Jin: Our Protagonist. Just made Feng Zhi's underling.
