> Liu Jin: Our Protagonist Realizing snake motifs do not inspire trust. Too good 😂

Pete

Typo: “ ‘Most you show such hostility to me?’ .” Should be “Must”.

To be fair, it's not like Liu Jin created the situation that led to so many deaths, his discovery merely expedited events that were already unfolding and would have reached their boiling point eventually. He did agonize for a long time over the choice, and really, what was he supposed to do, let a bunch of guys get turned into pills? But yes, Liu Jin is using the Eternal Flame Clan for his own ends, and Feng Zhi is correct to suspect his motives (though he is very off about what those goals are). And it's not like Liu Jin kills because he likes to do so. So far he has given his opponents every chance to walk away if they were from outside the clan, or join him and work together if they are his fellow disciples. As for Feng Zhi, the fact his personality is so at odds with his Dao is the cause of his problems, and as long as he can't reconcile the path he walks upon with who he is, his cultivation will suffer.

Valerian

You know, Feng Zhi is a hot-head that uses intimidation tactics and threats to avoid actually hurting people. He has only killed one person on screen and it was a mercy kill on a poor bastard that succumbed to their heart demon. I'd wager that he is actually quite afraid of his own strength and what he would be forced to do if he keeps increasing his cultivation. And at the end of the day, he is right to mistrust Liu Jin. Just consider, will Jin stick around the EFC after using it to achieve his goals? Very low odds, he doesn't like the place much. So in essence, he breaks in here, upsets the status quo, which kills or destroys the lives of many people. Then he enacts the policy change he wants, ensures it works and then leaves to continue with his goal. Leaving people like Feng Zhi and possibly Feng Hao to deal with the consequences. Liu Jin is a Storm, can you blame Feng Zhi for seeing the signs and looking for shelter?

Robert Davidson

The juxtaposition of "you aren't progressing because you are avoiding certain methods," with "I need to see Yi Jiao," is raising some very serious red flags here. Some very unsavory implications here - guess we'll see if Feng Zhi really lives down to the Young Master cliche.

David Wei

To be fair, Lui Jin is way more a bigger brother to Hao then Zhi. And Jin is free enough to be able to do brotherly things with Hao. Also Hao is probably not going to walk a path of destruction thanks to Lui Jin. I wonder when Hao is going to ask Jin for medical lessons. It feels like something he's going to be interested in just due to proximity to Jin.

David Wei

Part of me wonders if Zhi dao will actually end up destruction based. He seems to have a hatred of the concept, and I doubt daos are fully static. He may be on a path of destruction right now, but that doesn't mean he can't chart his own one. I feel like his character arc is going to be about him choosing his own path over the path dictated to him by his position and family.

Lightseid

That's the problem isn't it ? Zhi doesn't have to be a villain for him to want Jin dead since he has decided that Jin is the villain and that anything proving otherwise is a lie or a manipulation. Just because someone love their family, they're a good person ? Plenty of bad people love their family enough to kill the ones they don't like their family spending time with. Like Zhi thinks that killing Jin would be for the best to protect Hao, the only reason he doesn't do it is because he can't without risking severe punishment and the hate of his little brother. But he clearly wants to kill him. And I think that despite all his justifications, it's because he's jealous of Jin's relationship with his brother.

burning_the_paper

I mean, he's not wrong, if not in the goals, then certainly when it comes to the methods. Liu Jin may not be a spy, but he is very much manipulating events to advance his goals. As for Yi Jiao, I imagine she's far more duplicitous than we have been led to believe. I think Zhi meant that he saved Huang in a number of ways when he took Yi Jiao away from him.

burning_the_paper

He's not an enemy in Liu Jin's eyes. An obstacle to overcome, an antagonist to win over, sure, but not an enemy. So far he really hasn't done anything against Liu Jin besides shout a few choice insults and threaten him with violence (which other people, now friends and allies, also have done). Also, do you really see Liu Jin viewing someone that is sacrificing so much to protect his little brother as a villain?

Lightseid

Zhi said he doesn't want to seat down to listen him, that’s why he left. Zhi has so little faith in himself or he's so scared of Jin, that he thinks that if they talked Jin would find a way to manipulate or take advantage of him.

Sean

So Feng Zhi actually cares about Yi Jiao? If he just keeps her hidden away then she's a weakness in his eyes.

Lightseid

It would be great if Liu Jin stopped lying to himself about Zhi. That guy is an enemy because he decided that Jin was his enemy, it's that simple. Just because he's Hao's brother doesn't mean he won't have to fight and maybe even kill him. Sometime people don't leave you a choice, they just hate you and they'll have new justifications to hate you whatever you do.

Catherine

I bet that either she truly wanted to go with Feng Zhi or she didn’t want to marry Huang Shing and asked Zhi to get her out of it

Mani

Feng Zhi is obviously a good and honorable guy in a ton of ways, but he's also plagued by massive insecurity that manifests itself in his aggressive behavior. I hope Liu Jin can get through to him, and find common ground, if not friendship. I highly doubt his kidnapping of Huang Shings bride is truly as such, but I'm curious to learn the truth of the matter

Yoav

So according to zhi , Jin is incredibly suspicious in everything that he does and when you look in universe outside of the protagonist pic he is right in that once Him arrived everything went boom. I am also pretty excited to finally see Yi Jiao to see what kind of person she is.

Oluwadarasimi Ogunshote

Why can't they just sit down and talk?! I mean I can see how suspicious Qing Jin would look to an outsider, but atleast let him say what he has to say. Wait, he actually did say what he had to say, there's just doubt thrown on Jins character.

Ringo SK

I wonder if that's a restraint specific to the eternal flame. He actually send like a pretty good guy and a potential future ally.

Catherine

Thanks for the chapter :)

MasterofNova

So his lack of progress comes from him caring about people enough not to steam roll them for power? Noice.
