DraconianGreed

Wooh! Gotta love it when an “arrogant young master” gets smacked down.

David Wei

"the ensuring exploding" should be explosion.

It would be funny if after this LJ opened the secret dessert stash in his spatial pouch in celebration, revealing to everyone else he has hobbies other than medicine.

Codered999

It was to keep him distracted and make sure he didn't leave the spider nest as Jin made his way over to him and to further make the guy react so that he'd leave himself open to the attack Jin used to finish him off.

Blahful

Okay, I don't understand somethings here. Why is Jin boy monologuing. That is out of character AF. Why did he show off? I didn't forget the needles, and he has used those before in the sect, but he has his projection snakes that could deliver the venom. He could use the dagger from Ming Yue. Or, he could have used the needle and not said that it was inside his body for 3 years. There isn't any need to allude to his inheritance or the nine headed snake God.

The sect he joined was always a means to an end - namely to influence events in the Storm Dragon Empire and allow him to get closer to the person responsible for the destruction of his hometown. Liu Jin was always going to outgrow the sect. Remember, he is in line for the throne of the Storm Dragon Empire, and immortal powers seem to be scheming to put him on the throne.

Liu Jin reminded me of Ozymandias from the Watchmen in this chapter - a villain that uses the stereotypical monologue to cement the inevitable defeat of the opponent. And the comparison is even more apt, because even though in this world of cultivation morality is all shades of grey, here we begin to see just what kind of man Liu Jin is going to become.

Yes! Fuck you Qu Rou!

Pipeman

Going by pure genre conventions, while spirit beasts and the like often leave cores behind that can just be harvested, Cultivators typically don't do so or at least not in the same way. Harvesting other humans for resources directly typically is restricted to explicitly evil cultivators and might even require profane rituals and acts performed on the target while they're still alive or something. We had an example of that kinda thing already with that one Elder's conspiracy that Liu Jin uncovered and the effort and control over the targets of the scheme that was required there is probably the norm for what it takes to get a large benefit out of humans.

Guy Incognito

Welp, hopefully the core of the Mother Spider is still intact after all of that. With Liu Jin affinity for all things poison it'd probably be pretty useful for him. Curious to see if the group is going to skedaddle now that Qu Rou is dead or explore the temple more.

Kevin Zhang

Incredible job on the power disparity. Also wouldnt the logical conclusion of a power based world be to just refine all dead cultivators? Waste not

Awesome

good chapter, but your overall story director -- internecine warfare among the sect, is sad, because it really kills all the attachment I had for the sect. So overall, if suddenly MC dies, or your world ends...I will not feel any sadness, because the attachment to the world is gone. You can keep me interested with good characters and storytelling, but if my feelings for your world is gone, then other things loose their relevance.

Catherine

Thanks for the chapter :)

Kiwilord

Our MC does seem like someone who likes to monologue

Wyv

To be honest, I still think showing the plan through the scenes would have been better than having Jin talk about it to the enemy. Ah, well. This worked well enough. Thanks for the chapter!
