Magic moment- i was listening to the “A Bit Fruity” podcast on Gwen Stefani and I walked into my barber, only to see a Nylon mag with Gwen on the cover and then I listened to this ep and she’s mentioned again! Also, if you love Gwen, I recommend the Fruity podcast on her and her image pivot to conservatism (but not really- she’s always been this way)

My Prince story: I went to college in the Twin Cities and my friend worked as a waitress at a fancy vegan restaurant. This was is the very early 2000s, before veganism was as mainstream as it is now. When Prince came in, it was well known that you were not to talk to him, only his bodyguard. So she would say to the bodyguard something like “Today’s soup is butternut squash” and then bodyguard would stage whisper in his ear “Today’s soup is butternut squash” and then Prince would whisper in the bodyguard’s ear and the bodyguard would say back to my friend “He’ll have the soup.” That process would get repeated for everything he ordered. 🫠
