You do not only need a wider chisel, you should also better sharpen it, else it is more torture than quick surgery. Or it helps in interrogations of captured frenchmen...

Excited for this one! I've studied into the history of my carpenter's trade; as a ships carpenter you could also be a back up surgeon because you knew how to use a saw and had your own toolkit. And speaking as someone who has gouged myself with a chisel more than once, I hope they sharpened it first!
