Astra: Spaceship Design, Interior + Patreon Name Vote!
🕑 Added 2020-11-04 20:34:57 +0000 UTCHello Patrons,
It's Wednesday my d00ds, hope everyone is well! Today, we are here to share the finalized design of Astra's main starship along with its interior layout and finally a vote from you guys to pick a name. Let's get started!!
As for as the story goes, the ship was originally a transport ship that was heavily modified for armor and additional speed. What we needed to do with the design is make it feel like a hefty cargo spaceship while still giving it an aggressive/speedy look. Our artist used angular lines to make it fit the latter criteria and then we added rounded off parts to dial back the 'aggressive' feel so that it didn't go in the territory of a combat/military vibe!
The ship is two levels. The cargo bay and most of the technical, engine, workshop/armory things are on the bottom level and the living quarter rooms are in the upper. The lower area also has a secondary storage after the airlock where you could put bounty targets (basically a makeshift prison), livestock transportation, or just use it as any extra storage space.
The top of the ship pretty much has everything you'd need for a crew to live and make long journeys in. You can take a look at the images above to see what exactly the ship has! The artist we worked with to blueprint the ship actually does 3D environments! Even though we don't need that, he has made the ship and layout to be logical and functional and it is these little details that we hope shine through as polish for Astra.
The last order of business is to name the ship! The name is either Aetos or Aquila.
Aetos means eagle in Greek while Aquila means eagle in Latin. We want to call it eagle to have a call back to ACE Academy and that eagle is also an appropriate name for a speedy, flying spaceship! Please feel free to vote for the name you like more in the poll below.
That is all for now! We have more updates coming soon, please be on the lookout for them. ;^)
Thank you for your continued support, have a good one!!

If Aquila feels AC for some, when I say it loud, he sounds a lot like Akira for me. ^^

This is hard, but not really. I love the fact that Aquila is from Latin because Latin is one of the best and coolest languages out there, but Aetos just sounds so much better, especially for a ship name. Also, I’m loving seeing how much thought/effort y’all are putting into Astra!

Aetos sounds better. Because Aquila gives me a lot of Assassin's Creed nostalgia. I just feel like it works better in Greek instead of Latin.

Looks really nice and liveable. Quite reminiscent of Serenity. I'm pretty sure Serenity's cargo bay took up both the lower and upper levels, but it also had a pretty short engine room, so if the engine room of the Aquila is larger (Aetos just feels militant to me for some reason, but I've never played Assasin's Creed), that would make for a similarly large cargo bay with a whole extra level for living space.

Sees the name Aquila feels assassin creed burn through my blood lol
