Project Enigma - February Update!
🕑 Added 2019-02-13 14:58:15 +0000 UTCHello Patrons,
Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Just here to share our February update with you guys. I've attached a progress update so far which contains some WIP for BGs, OST along with character sheets and the Live2D sprites. Majority of our efforts for the last month has been on getting the Live2D models completed (since we are looking to go even more in-depth, the number of individual pieces has also gone up!) and the writing.
On these fronts, all four Live2D models are completed and are going through the rigging/animation process. Writing has also progressed quite nicely and we are done the initial SCRIPT (not storyboard! :D) of episode 1. Edits/continuity and such usually takes about a week or two and after that we should be able to make a text-only version of episode 1. I would expect this in late February / early March! With that update out, let's go talk about the spirits' lore!
Spirits are actually not so much spirits but another race known as Velden. They are more technologically advanced and have an affinity for energy which is perceived by a normal human as magic.
[SUPER ULTRA MEGA SPOILERS STARTING]
The Veldenians that arrive on earth are part of a "special forces" group that had just defeated a powerful and dangerous rogue Velden. After the battle, his weapon of shadowy powers shattered and the fragments landed on earth which is why these Veldenian's came to earth to retrieve the pieces (this is where the artifact hunting is, you guys are looking for the shattered fragments).
[SUPER ULTRA MEGA SPOILERS ENDING]
The Veldenians are not on the same "frequency" as humans so for them to interact with our world requires an exorbitant amount of energy. This is actually the case for a lot of places they could visit. For this reason, they find a host with a high level of affinity (or what we call people who have a sixth sense for the paranormal in modern day) and work with them as a proxy. In this way, you as the host, can see your Veldenian partner.
This is also what we would typically call a "ghost" in that it is usually a mischievous Velden who is projecting images of themselves on our world or moving objects/making noise with energy. Of course, interacting with other worlds in such a manor is strictly prohibited for Veldenians.
That's the details we'll go into for now! There is of course a lot more information (how their society works, life expectancy, social norms...etc) which we'll go into in future updates! As for now, please feel free to take a look through the February assets and leave your thoughts/feedbacks on Veldens below!
Thanks again for your support. :^)
