I tried a few different names for this one, like Recovering... but everything sounded pretty lame, and I really loved the "recover" aspect. Ahg, naming things is the worst step...
A new fanfic! This one takes place in the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power universe. If you haven't watched this show, definitely do~ I was super impressed with everything about it, especially as the series goes on. I loved the world and the characters, but when watching the series... I didn't have a lot of size feelings, actually! Well, the writers definitely did... That scene where Mermista is imagined as giant? And there were other little nods to size things... Hah, I always have wishful thinking that we've got size enthusiasts everywhere.
Anyway. My favorite character, definitely, ended up being Shadow Weaver. When we finally see her face at the end of the series, I was head over heels. She is so cute. The scars, the fang, the hair, the eyes, ugh! So when BatgirlSilva wanted a story involving her, I fuckin' jumped into action. The ideas all came to mind pretty quickly -- broad ideas, but quick nonetheless! Pairing her up with Castaspella definitely made the most sense. If it had been up to me from the start, I prob would've had Shadow Weaver be the big one, but I'm actually grateful I didn't do that! I'm glad Silva wanted her to shrink instead, which posed a whole slew of different interactions and themes to explore. It seems rare nowadays that I put the more powerful character into the weaker position, but with Shadow Weaver and everything that happened to her, putting her in a submissive role allowed me to explore some fun thoughts~
I do reflect back on this story and see areas I would have liked to improve... I think the beginning, while not terrible, doesn't service the rest of the story very meaningfully. I suppose it gives background notes to readers unaware of She-Ra's ending, but... that's a big "suppose." I think I could have trimmed a lot of this down, and maybe reorganized things to be a bit crisper. I don't think the story is bad, hah, I wouldn't have posted it if it was that low quality... but lately, I've been especially bitter about my own writing and been very focused on my flaws. For awhile, I was even angry reviewing some of Recovery... I just felt disappointed that I wasn't "seeing the life" of what I was writing out. Even after edits, the feeling still lingers. I think I'm getting real tired of reading my own work, haha.
Thanks for the support everyone, and especially BatgirlSilva~ You've been an amazing patron! Recovery is going to remain a patron-only story, so I hope everyone enjoys this exclusive short~
