Enriched RX 6950 XT OC Formula PCB Breakdown notes
🕑 Added 2022-07-07 00:17:55 +0000 UTCThe Asrock RX 6950XT OC Formula has the most powerful PCB of any RX 6950XT. I say powerful because IDK if it has the best voltage regulation (that requires o-scope measurements) and it has no board protection fuses so in the unlikely event that it suffers a VRM failure it could be far harder to fix than some other 6950XTs that do have fuses.
Extra Features
Dual BIOS
LED off switch
J4003 header pads for connecting to card's VRM I2C.
Vcore VRM
LAYOUT:
14phases in total 7 on both sides of the core to reduce power plane impedance.
CONTROLLER:
Infineon XDPE132G5D 14+2 phases (the +2 is for the SOC VRM)
MOSFETS:
Infineon TDA21490 90A SPS
MOSFET EFFICIENCY
at 600KHz outputting 1.8V(the datasheet doesn't have information for 1.2V)
350A ~21W (refrence is ~33W)
500A ~35W (refrence is ~60W)
VCORE FILTERING
150nH? inductors (reference is 150nH)
14x 470uF 2 terminal molded SMD aluminium polymers (refrence has 8x 470uF)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOC VRM
CONTROLLER:
Infineon XDPE132G5D +2 phases
MOSFETS:
Infineon TDA21490? 90A SPS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Memory VRM
LAYOUT
3 phases in the top right corner of the memory power plane
CONTROLLER
Infineon IR35217 3+2 phases (+2 is for VDDCI)
MOSFETS
Infineon TDA21472 70A SPS
MOSFET "EFFICIENCY"
3phases of TDA21472s instead of the 2phases you get on every other 6950XT I'm aware of. In other words. VERY OVERKILL
MEMORY FILTERING
120nH inductors (reference is 150nH)
6?x 470uF 2 terminal molded SMD aluminium polymers (reference has 6x470uF)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VDDCI / Memory controller VRM
CONTROLLER:
Infineon IR35217 2 phases
MOSFETS:
Infineon TDA21472 70A SPS
MOSFET "EFFICIENCY"
2phases of TDA21472s instead of the 1phase you get on every other 6950XT I'm aware of. In other words. VERY OVERKILL
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12V / INPUT FILTERING
1 150nH? inductor per 8 pin
1 470nH inductor for the PCI-e 12V
The card seems to have 1 12V power plane for all 3 8pins which could make the input filtering more effective by sharing most/all the bulk input caps with most/all? the phases.
7x 270uF through hole aluminium polymers (reference has 6x 180uF)
5x 100uF 2 terminal molded SMD tantalum polymers (reference has 0)

NIKLAS MÄKINEN
I have 6900 oc formula ..these cards looks quite the same on pcb,so i wonder..they might use same waterblock ?
