The Dave

Wednesday and Sunday, so a full chapter per week, or, in the case of an indivisible chapter, chapter + interlude in a week. This month there'll also be an additional Bugsy POV Omake as that won the Contributor-poll.

Great do far. What is the release schedule?

TempestK

Plus, not having Spencer constantly reinforcing his negative feelings. Seriously while Ran may be a Poison-specialist, Spencer was just *toxic*.

TempestK

Yeah, that works a lot better! Leaves things open for later once Ran has had some time to really process back home and deal with the upcoming battle with Bugsy. Given what happened with Falkner, Bugsy may actually seek Ran out to speak with him before the match. Which could lead to a clearing of the air there. Maybe finding out what kind of serious hoops Bugsy had to jump through to catch Scyther would help out some rather than Ran thinking he was just lucky.

The Dave

Did a rework, with dad fishing, Ran not wanting to discuss it and dad then letting the matter rest, though clearly picking up at least part of what likely happened. Think it works and improves the scene. Thanks for the feedback TempestK, lemme know if you think it doesn't work yet!

The Dave

A valid point, I'll rework it a bit. Thanks for the feedback, it's immensely appreciated.

TempestK

The problem is that there's no acknowledgement either way. It's just ignored completely. At the very least a "you wanna talk about it?" might have helped there.

The Dave

But if that doesn't come across, then I'm not opposed to doing some editing so that Ran's dad *does* push the Spencer-issue. So please let me know if, with clarification, there's sense to my reasoning or whether it doesn't come across as true to the characters as portrayed in which case a change will need making.

The Dave

Hmm, I'm trying to portray Ran's dad as a caring father, but also one who doesn't quite have as close a relationship with his son as either would perhaps like. Something that I'm trying to show in the occasional awkwardness and Ran's hesitance to irk his father (also, the regular -not constant- choice of 'father' over 'dad'). I intended for Ran's dad's choice to not bring up the Spencer-issue to come across as him deciding to give his son space and let him work through the issue on his own, or wait for Ran himself to expand on the matter.

TempestK

While overall a good chapter, there's a glaring hole in the discussion with Ran's dad. There's no way in hell that someone that's as in tune with his son as Ran's dad seemed to be not trying to find out what happened with Spencer, because so far as he knew the two of them had literally been planning this for three years, and they were the absolute best of friends. And even if he *did* expect this to happen, there still needed to be some kind of discussion about it, maybe highlighting that he knew Ran wouldn't listen if he tried to talk about how Spencer was acting without actually seeing it for himself. It's something that desperately needs to be addressed before moving to the gym.
